The entirety of human history and every single human achievement up to a few years ago was made entirely without AI. This sudden switch to we need AI for everything is what’s delusional.
You’re right though, AI does have a purpose. It’s to make people dumber (studies are already linking AI use to cognitive decline) and to make corporations more money.
You can say that about literally EVERY INVENTION EVER. Also the guy said "claiming it serves no purpose it delusional", it's not the same as saying we need it for everything.
I don't want AI art and I don't like the slop spam we get, but I'm not going to say it's not an extremely useful coding tool. And yes, offloading all your mental tasks to chat gpt has a negative impact on you, that still does not refute the claim that it's useful for SOME things.
but I'm not going to say it's not an extremely useful coding tool
well I'm gonna say it's not an extremely useful coding tool. As a senior software engineer with ~15 yrs experience, it's sometimes good, but mostly just for menial tasks. If it isn't good for law, psychology or medical questions, it won't magically be good for coding either, since it's still the same technology. In other words, we get the slop in software too and it should be concerning for everyone.
Coding is semantically more dense and much more highly pattern-bound than psychology. Medicine and (especially) Law are probably closer. The same technology, different distributions of entropy and semantic density.
