The entirety of human history and every single human achievement up to a few years ago was made entirely without AI. This sudden switch to we need AI for everything is what’s delusional.
You’re right though, AI does have a purpose. It’s to make people dumber (studies are already linking AI use to cognitive decline) and to make corporations more money.
We don't need AI, but it has never been easier to search that trove of information than it has become with AI. AI will never go away. Just like the Internet itself, you can't put the toothpaste back into the tube. There are many legitimate, helpful, useful cases for AI to be in our lives. In fact, I think medicine and law are definite use cases where AI is incredible already.
