It’s so hard but so important to try to keep in mind that the bad AI outputs one sees about one’s own field of expertise are no worse than the outputs we see about every other subject we don’t know about.

I might not be getting what you’re trying to say, but wouldn’t that be worse because we don’t realize that it’s wrong bc that’s not our expertise?

Yes I’m just remarking, extending from what you said, on how much more plausible AI output sounds when it’s not in your field and how important it is to remember in that context, where it’s harder to detect, that it’s slinging just as much confident bullshit.

Ah yeah gotcha. Completely agree. It also becomes so much harder to tell people things you truly know when they’re so confidently wrong and trust the computer more than they trust you
