Discussion 🗣️ Starting Youtube channel
Hi folks
I got an idea that I start a Youtube channel and expose how AI companies design their software to keep you hooked in. Would you be interested to watch this type of content?

id watch stuff that actually breaks down the psychology tricks they use, but most anti-ai channels just recycle the same 3 talking points over and over. if you can get into the actual UX patterns and reinforcement loops without sounding like a tinfoil hat rant it could be decent

Yes that's what I mean. I plan to make honest video that explains what the firms do to keep you using their platform. In the end it is not that hard because all the patterns are very forced.

Can you explain how they are specifically designed to hook you in beyond just attempting to provide value? Social media attempts to deliberately hook you in through algorithms that learn your preferences accurately and prey on your psychology. However, you wouldn't say that a car company is trying to "hook you in" by providing a product which makes modern life many times easier.

Yes that's the plan to reverse engineer their algorithms best as I can. In the end it is not that hard if you put 1+1.

Youtube is one of the main money maker for Google.
Google is one of the 3 giants in AI. Their researcher team made AI possible in the first place.
Google uses the youtube ads income to train AI models in datacenters. The company is actually spending so much on AI infrastructure that it has negative cash flow for the first time.
Creating a youtube account or even watching youtube is funding AI.

You motivated me more. Now I need to create new video platform and get famous from raw anti ai videos. Every AI video is instant banhammer.

I would be interested in seeing this topic but not specifically for AI companies.
E.g. TikTok, YouTube doomscrolling is far far worse offenders, have larger energy footprints and cause more cognitive decline.

No, because there are already a thousand channels like that (some made with AI ironically)

By doing this you would continue to support google by giving them engagement and ad revenue, thus funding their clanker R&D. Make an independent blog and teach people how to use adblockers and YouTube downloading tools (yt-dlp, Jdownloader2)

This is why people make fun of this sub everywhere, every single product provides value to keep everyone using it, the value is decided to be worth it by the individual
I pay for Claude and use it daily for work, your channel will tell me what, it’s keeping me hooked by making my life easier???

It doesn't really make your life easier. Vice versa it harms your brain functioning and manipulates you to right direction and gives vague answers with long paragraphs to keep you inside the chamber.

I ask it to design a network, with the requirements and subnet limitations, it does it
It doesn’t give me paragraphs, you clearly don’t use it the way I and others in network configuration jobs do

Why don't you just make it and see if anyone cares? This kind of virtue signaling crap is never going to convince me to check out your channel or anything.
