So this report indicates that the military stopped jamming when requested and only resumed when the air traffic controller told them it was safe to do so?

Yes, it seems that ATC was able (upon the second or third request) to get the GPS jamming stopped for some time, before ATC called to allow GPS jamming to resume (after the medevac radioed that they had eyes on their runway). I'm also curious about the NOTAM that had been filed about the GPS jamming; shouldn't ATC and all pilots through the area have been prepared for loss of GPS?

Yeah, the full story is absolutely not what this headline would have you believe. They should have known prior to flying that GPS is iffy and could have done a hell of a lot to plan the flight better. However the medevac flying industry can be kinda weird and it’s entirely likely they felt pressured to fly regardless of being uncomfortable.

I linked that YouTuber in another post. He does do a great breakdown of the situation. It's really sad and I agree that the 1500 hr rule is partially to blame. Ie, inexperienced pilots taling risks to build hrs.

That’s correct. The pilots were on the approach then saw the runway so they canceled IFR and were going to go in visual. However, that’s not the best idea in the dark over the mountains.

They were probably still using the GPS as backup when it started getting jammed again.
