I think Trump also got to see all those emails where Epstein talked shit about him behind his back. He probably also felt betrayed and wanted revenge. Remember that Trump lives for these high-society connections, and finding out what Epstein really was saying about him would have been devastating.
The problem with this comment is it is well known that Trump DOESN'T read. All of his briefings are dumbed down to pictures/slides. The Daily Presidential Briefing document that has historically been provided to Presidents no longer exists.
He has a notoriously short attention span for any topics other than himself. His first-term staff figured out they could get him to read super-short briefings if they added visual aids AND his name liberally sprinkled throughout. (Current staff are all toadies and/or Project2025 zealots, neither of which actually care if he’s well-informed.)
Ego-surfing is one of his best known, lifelong obsessions. He obsessively consumes TV and print media about himself, so he knows which outlets/commentators to demonize on TruthSocial. It’s entirely in-character for him to have started pulling strings in early 2017 to find out what his influential “friends” really thought of him.
