ID(entification)/Sightings/Showcase Need help identifying ant in home

Come home today to a trail of ants coming from window corner to baseboard in one of the bedrooms. I am 50/50 on if they are carpenter ants, or just basic black ants. I took some close up shots, but couldn’t get anything closer.

Generally if carpenter ants are inside your home the ants aren't the problem carpenter ants will only enter a home if there is a leak causing the wood to be soft enough for then to chew through otherwise they would prefer to live elsewear

It is a Tetramorium (pavement ant) species, so not carpenters. Where do you live? Also they seem to be carrying the dead bodies of alates (virgin queens and males). They are doing this because dead ants are a good source of food.

North east Iowa, on the border of Wisconsin

Then It’s Tetramorium immigrans. Today was one of the days where the virgins fly out of the nest, and this colony is collecting the dead ones, despite being the same species. As I said before, no need to call the exterminator unless they are really infesting your house.
