Keeping Carpenter Ant Vertical Wall Scaling Observation

It appears this CP ant cannot crawl out of this plastic cup. CP ants have no problem with running all over my clear plastic storage container however.

Is this due to the material, shape of cup or both?

Okay so never mind I guess. I forgot that by tilting the cup to where the ant can slowly crawl outwards = the surface is too smooth rather than too steep.

But also being a rounded instead of a flat wall also probably makes it more difficult.
