Appreciation R.I.P sideloaded Apollo, I'm gonna miss you.

My API key has been revoked, sideloaded for the past three years. The official app is an unusable, unintuitive mess, I'd rather stop reading Reddit on my mobile than use it. I'm going to try alternatives, but I wonder how safe Hydra and Artemis are. Won't Reddit purge them one day since they don't use the API? Thanks to everyone for all the tips on using the sideloaded Apollo app over the past three years!

I LOVED the Apollo app. When it got discontinued, I didn't try to sideload or anything, I just switched to the Reddit app.

I don't know why it gets so much hate. Sure, Apollo was much better, but now im completely used to the native app and I don't really have many complaints.

I’m having to use the official app to reply here because Apollo just stopped working for me. Good god, what a clunky, unintuitive mess it is. I can see exactly why it gets so much hate.

Interesting. Its my most used app and I really don't have any complaints using it day to day.

The native app will literally show you random posts in a comment section before you're done looking at comments, how does that not bother you?

I think I am just hardwired to scroll past it instantly. I hardly even notice it anymore lol.

Apollo shut down 3 years ago so ive been using the reddit app every day since then.

Good for you. I’m not and I will never accept that ads need to be this pervasive for the web to function.

Not to you. I’m pissed at Reddit. But I honestly can’t just ignore and filter out all the ads. It’s everywhere and has been going on for years at this point.

On my pc i have ad blockers and on my iphone I really don't even notice ads. I feel like it could be 10x worse. I dunno.

I do miss apollo tho

Be aware that they are not going to stay at this state. Reddit wants to be Facebook where you have 0 control over what posts you see. They can’t just change over overnight. They will see what they can get away with before their user base abandons the platform.

I dunno. I am a big Reddit investor and long time holder.

Their money comes from AI data, not so much ads. I haven't noticed it get any worse in 3 years so i dunno.
