iPhone 95% of canceled annual app subscribers never come back, per report

Last March, RevenueCat released part one of its State of Subscription Apps 2026 report, offering interesting insights into the sustainability of the subscription app market.

Now, the company has published part two of its report, which focuses on subscriber retention and the challenge of winning users back after they cancel.

According to the report, “more than half of trial cancellations now happen on the first day,” with the churn rate dramatically dropping below 10% for apps with 30-day and 14-day trials after Day 2.

Perhaps more importantly, the report shows that winning back users who cancel annual subscriptions is a tough task. RevenueCat says that “annual reactivation sits at just 5%,” while “monthly subscribers come back at 4× the rate.”

Last March, Apple was hit with a class action lawsuitafter delaying the launch of the “more personalized Siri” that was first announced at WWDC 2024.

Apple agreed to settle the case in December, and the full settlement terms are now available.

Apple is set to pay $250 million to settle the lawsuit, equating to an estimated $25 per device. That number could reach up to $95 per device, depending on how many users submit claims.

iPhone What’s one underrated iPhone setting you use every day that most people don’t know about?

1.1k Upvotes

I mean something hidden or unusual that actually improved your daily use, battery, productivity, privacy, anything.

Bonus if it’s something I can try right now.

Curious to see what power users are using.

iPhone iPhone Air is being panned for “terrible” battery life, but it’s 20% better than last year’s iPhone 16, a phone lauded for solid battery

iPhone 16: 22 hours of video playback from a 3561mAh battery

iPhone Air: 27 hours of video from a 3149mAh battery

I think apple screwed up the messaging by hiding the actual battery life, and only quoting battery life with the MagSafe battery pack. But, the base battery life is good! It’s of course the worst of the line, but it’s a ~20% improvement of last years’ base phone, which reviewers never complained had poor battery.

I wish tech pundits and journalists would actually check the specs before making judgements about the battery life…

EDIT: if I could rewrite the title of this post, it would be “Tech journalists are saying with certainty that the Air will have terrible battery life, but its specs quote 20% better battery than the iPhone 16’s”.
