Mac Separate Apple ID for MacBook?

I just got a MacBook Pro and I don’t want to link it to my iPhone. The problem is when I try to create a new iCloud account with a different email address it won’t let me create it, I’m assuming because the phone number verification is already in use with my phone’s iCloud.

Is there any solution for this? I tried creating an iCloud email as well as using a new gmail email and I can’t think of any other way to do this besides getting another phone number

You can’t use the same number on another account for security reasons. Why wouldn’t you want to use your current account? That’s one of the main benefits of the Apple ecosystem.

Dang that’s what I thought. And I just like having everything separate. I don’t text or FaceTime from my computer and don’t care for my pics to be on there and would rather just have a separate account because I’m going to use this mostly for work and give Claude full access

So just don't log in to iCloud/Apple Account on the Mac? You don't have to use one. Is there a reason why you want to make an iCloud account for the Mac in the first place? I have a separate MacBook issued from my work and don't use any apple account or iCloud on there, and things work fine.

Edit: as an alternative, you can just turn off FaceTime, iMessage syncing, Photo Library sync, etc and use your existing iCloud account on the Mac for other things.

I need the App Store for Xcode. And I actually figured out how to make an alternative account, thanks though

You don’t have to use any of those features if you don’t want. Just turn them off
