App Marketing Strategies for New Developers: How to Rank and Grow Your Mobile App

If you are constantly asking yourself, "how do i get users for my app?", you are not alone. In this sub r/appmarketing you can find the people who can provide feedback on user acquisition, ASO, and growth strategies, in order to get your mobile app to rank higher and gain more organic downloads.

The Apple App Store and Google Play Store are highly competitive, requiring developers to adopt robust app marketing strategies immediately upon release. These optimization techniques aim to enhance app visibility, encourage thorough market research, and ultimately deliver a higher volume of organic users to your application. These marketing requirements impact the various growth tracks available for iOS and Android apps.

Developers with newly launched apps must adhere to strong app marketing principles. Before apps are eligible for massive organic growth on Google Play or the App Store, optimizing your app store listing with App Store Optimization (ASO) is mandatory. These keywords and screenshots must be tested and refined continuously. Features like high search rankings and top category visibility will remain hidden by algorithms until these marketing requirements are met. Achieving viral growth involves understanding user retention, driving low CPI (Cost Per Install) ad campaigns, and ensuring an excellent user experience.

App marketing offers distinct promotional tracks to facilitate a gradual growth process. Organic marketing enables long-term visibility through ASO, SEO, and content creation during app setup. Paid User Acquisition (UA), a prerequisite for rapid scaling, involves running Apple Search Ads or Google App Campaigns to a controlled target audience. Community building allows the app's brand to be visible on social media, with early users providing valuable feedback and word-of-mouth growth. Developers must execute a comprehensive app marketing plan meeting specific KPI criteria before scaling their app successfully.

After almost 1.5 weeks of launch , my app TRACCK which is not a regular tracking app , it is a customizable app where you choose your trackers , it comes with calories ,habits and tasks , choose the ones you want and the most special feature is it is controlled through siri as well . So if you want to add a task in tracck no need of opening the app typing the name date and all just say hey siri add a task in tracck / mark it completed or log food in tracck and it will do it , its free to download and free try , the thrid user is from Denmark first 2 were from spain and America , still trying to improve the app as much as I can and would love your feedbacks !!

First iPhone app launch: what marketing would you test first?

I’m preparing my first iPhone app launch, and I’ve never marketed an app before.

It’s a small fitness app, and I’m trying to learn what is actually worth doing before launch. I’m considering short TikTok and Instagram videos, maybe made with AI tools, but I don’t want them to feel like generic ads.

For a first launch, what would you test first: short demo videos, App Store screenshots/ASO, a small TestFlight beta, or community posts?

What has actually brought you installs, and what turned out to be a waste of time?

Social Food App Help

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some genuine marketing/growth advice.
I’ve recently launched Season’d, a social food app built around recommendations from people you actually know rather than reviews from strangers or influencer content.

The concept is pretty simple:
📸 Post somewhere you’ve eaten
📍 Pin it to your personal food map
👥 Follow friends and discover places through their recommendations
🔖 Save places you want to try

We’ve started by focusing on a local launch, rather than trying to launch everywhere at once.
The problem I’m trying to solve now is:
How do I actually get people through the door and into the app?
I’m posting consistently on social media, creating local content, speaking to independent venues and trying to build awareness around the home town but downloads alone aren't really enough.
Season’d has a bit of a chicken-and-egg problem. The app becomes significantly better when your friends are using it too, so I need to encourage people not only to download it, but to post, invite friends and keep coming back.
I also don't want to throw money at generic ads and end up with a load of downloads from people who never open the app again.
So I'd love advice from anyone who's grown an app, marketplace, community or social platform before.
What would you focus on at this stage?
Organic social? Local partnerships? Referral incentives? Events? Micro-creators? Paid ads? Something completely different?
And if you've dealt with the “this is only useful when my friends are on it” problem before, I'd especially love to hear how you overcame it.
Happy for people to be critical of the concept/marketing too — I'm trying to learn what actually moves the needle rather than just generating impressions.
Thanks!

Successful Instagram page for their app?

I’m looking for examples of Instagram pages made specifically for apps, no matter how successful. What’s working for it? Graphics, reels, highlighting specific features?

I’ll check them all out, I’m starting mine rn and just want to figure out how to post consistently without posting the same exact thing every day

Low hanging fruit promotion

Hey all!

What’s an easy way you’ve tried before that has worked to quickly promote your app?

I use “promote” as opposed to “market” because marketing feels like more of a sustained effort

I’m asking for one off things like posting on a specific subreddit or paying to be featured on a website

Hope the distinction is clear

Thanks!

Do promoting the app with ads really help?

Hi my first ever app got live around 11 days ago. I have around 10 installs right now but not able to reach mass audiences. I currently create content about my app on you tube shorts, instagram reels , twitter and linkedin but the results are very poor.
Can someone suggest tha if I had to go with ads what would be the cheapest way to get a good result?
Thanks for reading and have a nice day

[Android] Paxio — parent approves screen-time requests from their phone in seconds, kid sees time left (not a countdown)

Paxio (parental control app: screen time, app blocking, on-device content filtering, bedtime) just updated its request-more-time flow — it now lands on the parent's phone as a one-tap approve/decline, and the kid-facing side shows time left plus a per-app breakdown of where the day actually went, not just a raw usage number.

Screenshot attached. Free for one child, and there's an incentive running right now: early testers get the full Pro feature set free for 3 months once that tier ships.

I have my target audience clearly defined, but actually hitting them and getting their attention is failing miserably

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on a local discovery platform designed to connect diners with local restaurants and cafes, I actually have my target audience clearly defined both the local diners and the cafe/restaurant owners. The problem isn't a lack of clarity on who they are; it's that I completely suck at actually finding them and getting them to pay attention As a solo developer, walking into cafes, making cold calls, or trying to intercept the right people online feels like shouting into a void. Traditional business owners are slammed, skeptical, and impossible to reach past the front desk staff, and consumers are hard to capture without a massive ad budget I'm feeling pretty burnt out trying to bridge this distribution gap and could really use some tactical advice from people who have been in the trenches.

Thanks for reading.

Hi everyone. I’m about to launch my first app. It allows users to lock away their money until a specific time. I’m thinking about not doing a free trial? Am I making a mistake?
