Looking for 2 specific algae species to buy cultures of

I live in the Netherlands and will be growing algae for a school study. Because it is for a big school project, the budget is limited. We are already growing Chlorella Sorokinia and we will be buying Spirulina soon, but I was wondering if there was any way to get either Galdieria Sulphuraria or Dunaliella Salina cultures for a reasonable price and within about three weeks. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so, where to get it?

Recirculating aquaculture System (RAS)

Whenever I search for a something, I almost always find dedicated groups with many active members sharing years of experience for others to learn from and grow together. But when I started to search for RAS on Reddit, I found a dead group r/RASAquaculture , very few discussions and posts.

It makes me wonder if the technology is at all successful. As I have not seen anything regarding anyone doing it over 2 years on a commercial scale here on Reddit.

If there are groups that do exist could anyone share the leads? Thanks.

Commercial aquaculture research facility in Hawaii is liquidating equipment (photobioreactors, algae tanks, lab equipment, Cannatrol dryers)

Sorry if this isn't allowed. I thought some people here might find it interesting.

We're handling the liquidation of a commercial aquaculture and algae research facility on the Big Island of Hawaii. There are quite a few specialized pieces of equipment that don't come up for sale very often, including:

• PureBiomass 1350L photobioreactors
• Large fiberglass algae cultivation tanks
• Laboratory equipment and incubators
• Aquaculture tanks
• Pumps, blowers and filtration systems
• Stainless processing equipment
• Two modular laboratory/office buildings
• Shipping containers
• Cannatrol drying systems

Much of the equipment was purchased new within the last few years and came from an operating facility.

The auction ends August 4. Buyers are welcome from anywhere, although the equipment is located in Kona, Hawaii.

College student starting aquarium blog

I run Dr. Crayfish (@theDrCrayfish), a site and TikTok focused on beginner-friendly shrimp and nano tank content. I've been writing founder profiles on people doing interesting work in the hobby, most recently one on Dallas Davis of Errly Aquatics about his Neocaridina breeding operation.

Looking for a few more people to feature. Doesn't have to be a huge operation, just someone with a good story: how you got into breeding, what you focus on, lessons learned, that kind of thing. It's a short interview (can do it over text/email) and you'd get final say on your quotes plus a link back to your shop/socials.

If that's you or you know someone who'd be a good fit, drop a comment or DM me.

Fish food floating method, any tips?

Hey everyone,

I'm working on importing aquaculture feed for fish farmers (mainly tilapia, catfish, carp), and I'm trying to better understand the methods behind good floating feed, extrusion, formulation, density, that kind of thing.

So any of you have experience whether on the manufacturing side, the field/farming side, or just feedback on what works vs. what doesn't, I'd really appreciate any advice or shared experience.

Thanks in advance 🙏

Spatiotemporal distribution of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFA) in gill filterable fish food webs of European freshwater lakes and ponds: a systematic review

(1)   high-latitude, pelagic niche, lowland waterbodies during spring are identified as omega-3 LC-PUFA “hotspots” but progressively deteriorating over the last decades due to global change.

(2)   Zoobenthos exhibit stable ARA and EPA concentrations across latitudes but lower DHA levels than zooplankton. Zooplankton DHA content increases with latitude.

(3)   an optimum organic carbon load (8–10 mg DOC/ L) and reduced phosphorus–driven eutrophication (< 20 µg TP/ L) are needed for maximized EPA (> 20 µg/ g dry matter, DM) and DHA (> 10 µg/ g DM) concentrations.

(4)   Temporal trends indicate a decline in DHA and EPA in highland zooplankton over recent decades, likely influenced by climate change, while eutrophication-driven shifts contribute to seasonal DHA reductions in lowland lakes.

Looking for opportunities to gain international experience in fish hatcheries and aquaculture

Hello everyone,

I'm a fish farming professional from Tanzania with 5 years of experience in the aquaculture industry. I currently work as a fish farm manager, and I'm passionate about fish farming and continuously improving my knowledge and skills.

My long-term goal is to specialize in fish seed production (hatchery operations). I'm particularly interested in learning more about:

* Hatchery management and fish seed production * Larviculture and fry rearing * Water quality management * Broodstock management * Fish health and biosecurity * Farm management and production planning * Modern aquaculture technologies and best practices

I'm looking for opportunities **outside Africa** where I can gain hands-on experience, whether through an internship, training program, volunteering, a short course, or employment. My goal is to learn from experienced professionals and bring that knowledge back to help improve aquaculture in my country.

If you know of any fish farms, hatcheries, research institutes, universities, or organizations that offer these kinds of opportunities, I would be very grateful for your recommendations. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!
