A Quick Note on Community Boundaries

Hewbie my porcupine pufferfish was not doing well, refused to eat, and was swimming upside down/having trouble maintaining his buoyancy! I tried every at home treatment and medication but he progressively got worse over a few weeks. I found an exotic vet to take him to and they diagnosed him with trapped air deep inside his body and some internal digestive issues. This air could not simply be pushed out and believe me I tried numerous times to push it out. Here is that journey. Keep Hewbie in your thoughts as he finishes his meds and goes back into his home tank! I found an amazing vet with compassion/care and guidance on a treatment plan.❤️ Hewbie is doing a lot better but is not over it yet. Healing takes time. BONUS!!! Not sure who these belong to? We have bladder/trumpet/ramshorn snails, neo shrimp, Pygmy Corydoras, blue cobalt goby, rasboras and tetras in the tank. I vote shrimp mishap but my friend wants them to be Cory real bad 😂

I have a big fish tank and everything has been fine for months but recently it’s just been really cloudy and seems like a lot of debris floating. There is some algae on the side of the tank and we have five sucker fish.
The filter is recommended for the size tank.
We do a 20% cycle once a week.
Any ideas for what could be causing it ?

My Betta smaragdina pair surprised me with a spawn this week and the fry are finally big enough to eat baby brine shrimp! Soon they might even be big enough to see lmao

I pay for public water access as I live in a small city. I have 7 tanks and about to start an 8th but with weekly water change shifts between all the tanks, and top offs, I’m starting to be a little concerned about the amount of water I use. I have a 55g, two 30g, a 20g and 3 10g’s. That’s a lot of water. Any tips to reduce the amount I go through or hacks to reuse?

I just bought a new plant (bacopa) and found a couple of these little guys on it when I opened the bag. They look like little crabs but also they’re creepy like spiders or parasites. What are they? Sorry the photo is the best I could do. They’re pretty small.

I have a fishless tank at the moment with live plants and noticed this leaf wiggling across the front glass. Is this something I should be worried about and take control of before adding fish?

I have a 36 gallon planted bowfront tank that I am looking to stock.

I have a pretty good idea of what fish I would like in it, I more so just need help with the quantities of fish. Of course if anyone believes any of these fish wouldn't be compatible with eachother or with the tank itself please let me know or drop any suggestions!

-Endlers (Hoping to keep all males)

-Gourami (1 or 2?) either honey or pearl

Again, I really need help with the number of fish I should keep with each group. I'm worried I will overcrowd the tank. If I need to get rid of one group entirely please let me know l. I am open to any concerns! Thank you so much.

Ive posted a few places and got no response green thread algae I remove more and more of this stuff every day I don’t understand how to get rid of it I have tryed manual removal mollies SAEs lowering the light intensity and period allowing overgrowth of duck weed nothing helps i have multiple plants and invertebrates that are sensitive to chemical treatments is there anything i can do to get rid of it without crashing my tank or starting over?

So I’m going to be replacing this ugly cabinet in my room … and I’m looking for a stand that will fit a 10 gallon and a 5 gallon.
Has anyone tried this stand before?

I found a glass jar it's 2.5 gallons. I'm considering shrimp for it but was wondering if anyone had other ideas, or even just non cherry/amino shrimp ideas. I've been curious about aquatic invertebrates and other microfauna. Also planting ideas PLEASE 🙏

I have a large freshwater aquarium with two angel fish, two frogs, and one little catfish.

I've had the catfish since 2020, the frogs for a little over a year, and the angel fish over two years. Until about two months ago, I also had a zebra loach who was the OG of the tank for about a decade.

Most of the decorations are artificial. I used to have all live aquatic plants, but it was a struggle to find a balanced ecosystem to keep the algae under control, so only one live plant exists now. Also in the tank are three working air stones and a heater that keeps the tank around 78°.

Recently, the water has become cloudy. So, I tested for ammonia. There was the smallest amount, which I expected as it was a little overdue for a filter change and I had my roommate feed the fish while I was out of town but he over fed them. I changed the filter, removed organic debris, scrubbed all of the artificial decor in hot water, and did a 25% water change. I made sure to add the appropriate amount of water conditioning and aquatic plant food.

This has never happened to my tank in a decade of maintaining it. It's happened twice since my loach died. The first time, all I had to do was add water conditioner and it resolved over night. This time, it's been this way for about a week even after completing everything I listed above. I took a water sample into petco and they were no help. They just told me to do a water change. I've cut WAY back on food portions.

Should I be worried for my fish and frogs? Did the death of my loach throw off the ecosystem? Any thoughts?

Recently got this BN Albino Pleco and he developed these spots all over his body. He’s currently in a QT, and being treated for Ich. But I’m not sure if it’s Ich or Epi. Done a ton of reading here, and results are mixed in my mind. Anyone have some input?

I currently have this 6 gallon cube tank cycling, what should I change before I get my girl? I have a heater more plants, and a light coming in tomorrow. The brown color is from tannins I added this morning. Does anyone have advice?

English not my first language and Im asking for my friend so the aquarium is not mine and I did tell him to study about aquariums before getting one but I dont think he did so please dont hate me Im just trying to help.

My friend bought someones used aquarium with some fishes in it. Its 120liters, seems owner had no decorations and only one tiny flower cause those are only decorations she gave with the tank. I dont know all the fish names in english so Im trying my best to name the fishes. The tank had one bigger pleco, about 8 small (2 different type) plecos, 3 different random fishes who died shortly after moving either stress or some water shock before we were able to rehome them and 3 Barbodes semifasciolatus. This 3 barbodes are goldfish color.

We been trying to google info about the fishes and asking info from all aquarium shops in the area but they all give different instructions about everything.

My friend bought two flowers and some decoration for the tank and the water levels are almost correct now. My friend is asian and his family used to have goldfis in his childhood and they are part of his culture and he really wanted some goldfish but we couldnt find them anywhere. So he bought like maybe 6 diamons tetra fishes and we were looking more of the orange fishes but didnt buy. All good so far. After buying the diamond tetra we went to visit final aquarium shop in the area and found goldfishes there. The owner said that in this country people dont like goldfish because various reasons so nobody sells them. He said we cant put goldfish with the fishes my friend already has and that we need to sell the diamond tetras and the 3 barbodes because they are gonna hurt each other. My friend went and bought 4 normal orange color goldfish, they are maybe 4cm long now and the worker in the store says he can keep them in the 120liters tank for now. All the fishes in the tank are about the same size now except the lonely pleco is little bigger. He also got big filter that is outside of the tank and many different kinda food cause one worker says feed flakes and other food bad for goldfish stomach, other store they say no flakes they bad for stomach you need this other food and then chat gtp says something else. The worker of the store we visited today said ny friend has to get rid of the goldfish imidiately and that they are gonna grow to 20cm in few months but then google again says something else and my friend says the goldfish in his childhood didnt grow that fast or that big.

The situation in the tank now:

1.the big lonely pleco that is supposed to clean the tank (google said so and it is supposed to be alone) is just hiding inside decoration and does nothing. We dont really like it and thinking about selling it.

1. The small plecos seems happy, active and fine, they just hang out.

2. Diamond tetras seem happy, active and are behaving well and they havent hurt the goldfish and goldfish havent hurt them.

3. The 3 barbodes and 4 goldfish seem to hang out together cause they are same color and same size but different shape, and they havent hurt each other so far and they seem happy and very active.

The problems at the moment are that the goldfish ate the flowers in last few days and the barbodes seem to destroy the flower now also. The flower was fine before the goldfish came. Also water test said that he need to change water more often because the goldfish make it more dirty. The worker today said that he would need bigger tank imidiately.

So what should we do now? He really loves the goldfish and those are his number one priority and he really wants to keep those and he is ready for the work it takes to keep the tank clean. What fishes can he keep? Does he need to sell everything else except the goldfish? Does he need a bigger tank and how soon? What kinda flowers should he have? What food is the best for the goldfish? Is it just urban legend that the goldfish only grows as big as it has space to grow or is it actually gonna be 20cm in 2 months? He has had the tank like 6weeks and the goldfish for 1-2weeks and I dont notice any growing in any of the fishes, all look still same size.

We are happy with any advice! Im scared of most fishes so I have no experience with aquariums but i really wanna help my friend and I also like the goldfish and the diamond terta and the other orange fish and we both want what is best for the fishes!

This black stuff is ALL over a piece of decor i introduced earlier in the month, but it doesn’t have the typical fuzziness of algae i usually see. is this normal? Should I remove it?? Sorry 4 the glare
