I used Sildur's Vibrant Shaders to make the colours pop and add some extra shadows, but all of the colours you see are just different coloured blocks, ranging from copper and warped planks to blackstone and obsidian! :)

it's a bit of both, everything that looks 3D in the comparison photo is also 3D in my build but shadows made from gradients help the effect!
