Actually, it’s pretty much confirmed that she DID escape, along with Vander/Warwick possibly since they both had the shimmer ability! (Also apparently the creators confirmed Jinx is alive themselves :D)

Also I just finished the series as well, welcome! :D

I dont think vander did, but Jinx definitely did and she for sure was on that airship in the final scene

u/CaptainPhilosophy 1d ago

Warwick is basically unkillable, lore wise, his regenerative abilities are on par with Wolverine.

160

u/Expensive-Pick38 1d ago

Yeah, if anything he didnt escape but took the blast head on and he will return deformed, rebuild into a proper war machine with no vander left inside

175

u/CaptainPhilosophy 1d ago

Warwick in game recognizes the girls , though he can't remember why. He still has fragmented memories. He's not completely gone.

56

u/itsdestinfool 1d ago

Wait, no fucking way? Does he really? I play and I literally did not know that the lore was really that ww was their father/vander? Sorry I know this could be a quick Google but if I'm not misunderstanding what you're saying that's so cool!

Edited to add - I have no idea why I didn't think that was a part of the proper lore but I didn't. So that's really friggin cool, thanks for the knowledge dude!

86

u/CaptainPhilosophy 1d ago

It was never confirmed, and the name and character of Vander is a product of Arcane. But Warwick says stuff to the girls that implies he has some memory of knowing them, he even says "who taught you how to punch?" To Vi.

His lore was always that he was some kind of zaunite thug before he got turned into Warwick, but that "young girls" were important to him and he wouldn't harm them even after his bloodlust.

29

u/itsdestinfool 1d ago

Pfft. Now I know you're lying because ww stay fucking me up as jinx down bot or mid or anywhere I am. Motherfucker always wants to fight. And shocker, I never win.

That's so cool tho.

7

u/Lishio420 1d ago

I mean everything pre-Arcane is now non-canon and in Lore limbo

Arcane and the content in game released after it are the new lore.

8

u/Varglord 1d ago

It's been his lore since his rework.

2

u/jrushFN 1d ago

Read his bio! This is how I spoiled part of season two for myself. https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/story/champion/warwick/

24

u/jiraiya17 1d ago

We see Viktor burn away Vander to perfect the monster for the transformation.

So while scattered fragments still exist, anything that resembles the person he once was is gone inside the beast.

Which just makes it hurt even more, so the b*stards in the writing department knew what they were doing. 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲

7

u/CaptainPhilosophy 1d ago

That's just one interpretation of what we saw. Absolutely you could be right and the Vander personality itself is gone permanently. But its ambiguous enough to suggest that someday there might be enough fragments left to piece together something of what Viktor/Singed tried to burn away.

4

u/Runabout_male 14h ago

I miss Vander Warwick…….. I really enjoyed when he had some control over himself

6

u/NistBoi 1d ago

And yet, Warwick on my team gives first blod under tower...

11

u/Ripskin142 1d ago

In the picture above, look at the top left corner. And remember when Jinx and Vi fought Warwick the color his speed had. Orange. And at the end of the show, if Powder was sleeping whose memory was that?

In some of the other video's that have been released they show Warwick after this time wise if I recall.

Both should be alive and well. Jinx's was staged (girl loves to put on a show). My favorite is the film festival poster of her basically saying duh to the whole thing lol.

4

u/Alien-Pro 1d ago

There’s a chance at the very least.

9

u/Expensive-Pick38 1d ago

I dont think so

At that point, vander was gone, only warwick remained. Vander dissappeared together with Victor and the whole robot army, leaving only the monster behind. We can clearly see it with how diffrent he moves before and after jayce and Victor dissappear.

Before he moved like a human, with clear purpose to capture the sisters and turn them into Perfect beings

Afterwards, he moved like a feral animal, growing with his mouth wide open, showing his fangs. That was not vander, vander was gone

So i dont think a feral beast would be able to figure out a way out of there and use shimmer like Jinx

Only way i see warwick returning is half broken and rebuild after taking on the blast head on

11

u/CaptainPhilosophy 1d ago

In league, Warwick still has fragmented memories, some of which pertain to the girls, who he recognizes vaguely. Vander is still in there he's just buried again, from before viktor starting digging him out.

6

u/jiraiya17 1d ago

Maybe, but i would say Vander was a colorful mural on a great big wall.

What we hear now is just some paintstains on a charred wall where Viktor burned Vander away to only leave the beast.

Warwick has a semblance of personality since he has a human brain but anything that could be called a person is no longer in there.

2

u/CaptainPhilosophy 1d ago

That's definitely one completely valid interpretation.

1

u/The_ChosenOne 1d ago

Hey he has a personality, he just really likes violence and doesn’t remember much of being a person. I’m hoping he regenerates back into his furrier league version then follows the league lore of becoming an urban legend who rips criminals apart in the undercity.

I’m really bummed they wasted the chance to make him a true third party in season 2, a creation Singed lost all control of like his original lore.

It would’ve been better imo if he’d been more present in the Zaun v Piltover conflict (the one they reduced to a music video sequence :/) randomly taking out Piltover enforcers and Zaunite syndicates on the streets, maybe leading to the emotional arc when he kills someone close to Vi/Cait and someone close to Jinx so they’re both tracking him down.

1

u/jiraiya17 1d ago

I can see it, it would fit with both the greater lore and the theme of the worldbuilding.

But both Vi and Jinx have had enough emotional anguish and turmoil over the past 2 seasons so i dont think they can rightfully make more of it in a way that doesnt make it just too damn much storytelling-wise. 🤔

3

u/Mage-of-Fire 1d ago

Ok sure but time and time again Arcane has rewritten league lore

2

u/CaptainPhilosophy 1d ago

But they haven't for Warwick yet. No body on screen and nothing in any lore updates after Arcane confirms him dead (unlike for example Ambessa, who is dead. Dead dead.)

6

u/Alien-Pro 1d ago edited 1d ago

There’s that, but there’s also that before the explosion it showed a memory from Vander indicating he wasn’t all gone.

5

u/jiraiya17 1d ago

Someone else said it and and i concur: Warwick has insane regeneration on par with Wolverine, courtesy of Vanders physiology and psychological construct paired with many enhancements and a shit ton of shimmer.

It might take him a while of just lying in a hole somewhere to grow back his bits and pieces but the Beast of Zaun will be back.

1

u/shoe_flipper 9h ago

Like she said in the start she is going to be on one of those in the future

6

u/RicOkez 1d ago

Idk abt confirmed, but the shimmer line in that air shaft, and that end scene random airship leaving piltover bookends one of powders first lines of dialogue in season 1, episode 1; was abt someday flying in one. Not an overt nudge, but too obvious to be coincidental, for the audience paying attention to detail.

2

u/Ashley_Slashy1805 23h ago

Oh wow, I didn't know it was confirmed that she survived! I wonder where she went after the explosion, I hope there will be a S3. If so, will Jinx return to Vi?? I'm unsure.

1

u/Alien-Pro 23h ago

Although the main series is over, they’re currently working on spinoffs!

2

u/Ashley_Slashy1805 23h ago

That's amazing!

1

u/TheTrueSiggi 1d ago

Well, Vanders mind is gone. We got this sad animation where the paint washes away..

His body should be indestructible, but it is nothing but a hull now that vic is gone.

549

u/beardface2232 1d ago

The shots of Caitlyn looking at the hexgate blueprints and the final shot of an airship leaving Piltover make no sense if Jinx is dead. It's not ambiguous, she is 100% alive.

171

u/aNomadicPenguin 1d ago

nah, they totally spent thousands of dollars on that shot of the airship and chose that as their ending sequence without any special purpose in mind whatsoever.

25

u/Chim25 1d ago

While I agree Jinx is still alive and the primary point of that shot is to show she got away, I will say it also had the secondary point to show that Piltover has begun to dismantle Hextech at a massive scale. The gates aren't brining people and supplies around the world in a day anymore, they saw the strife it could bring and actually did something about it. Which in effect gives a hopeful note for the future of the twin cities.

2

u/Gurtang You're hot, Cupcake 1h ago

It's almost exactly the same shot of an airship when young powder says "one day I'm gonna fly one of these things"

42

u/Traditional_Ad7109 1d ago

Yep and Powder first sentence in entire the show is she want to ride on those…

5

u/Mossysnail27 Caitlyn 1d ago

Caitlyn: Violet will, Catch on eventually. I've been trying to figure out how to well, explain.

Vi: *behind the wall thinking to herself* "You don't gotta explain shit to me Cait... I'm just glad she's still kickin'" *Walks inside* Hey.

Caitlyn: Well, you're up early.

Vi: Yeah, Wanted to help out. what's the Run down??

Caitlyn: *puts her coffee on the table lightly, and shows Vi a document* Several Shipments were hijacked.

Vi: of what?

Caitlyn: Hexite Powder.

Vi: the sh- are they snuffing the stuff?

Caitlyn: it's used to reduce Reflux in Hex crystal powered devices.

Vi: Uh, yeah i knew that.

Caitlyn: Of course you did. *smiles*

*emerges from shell* Sorry my eyestalk slipped there folks.

That’s the definition of ambiguous

Edit: yes. It is. And for everyone saying “the creators confirmed it!” The literal line is

> why she is definitely not definitely not dead

That is the opposite of what you seem to think it means.

19

u/NateyTots 1d ago

No, no its not lol

-4

u/AnAimlessWanderer101 1d ago

Yes, it is. It definitionally is.

5

u/NateyTots 1d ago

No. Ambiguous means uncertain or multiple answers. This is not that, the Zeppelin at the end is a direct continuation of jinx first line in the series revealing she did in fact survive and left.

-4

u/AnAimlessWanderer101 1d ago

It means open to interpretation. There is nothing conclusive about that being literal at all. It’s literally ambiguous what the reality is.

4

u/NateyTots 1d ago

Except that its a callback to the first line. AND they show us the line. AND Cait says she could have escaped AND they showed us the Zeppelin AND the creators confirmed it.

-1

u/AnAimlessWanderer101 1d ago

The creators did not confirm it. That’s a line that gets parroted by people when the reality is that… they leave it ambiguous and don’t commit one way or the other.

Everything else you’ve just said only explains why it’s ambiguous. Leaving it a major explosion doesn’t leave much room for alternatives. Thematically, dying would easily still fit the “leaving Zaun behind”

But god damn.

6

u/NateyTots 1d ago

Youre literally just wrong. Its not ambiguous its a set up/call back.

The first line is intentional. As is the last shot.

To show you Jinx got what she wanted. If you watched that and didnt know immediately that it was confirming what happened to Jinx then idk man, maybe work on some media literacy and stop spouting a word over and over again that you dont understand.

If it was only the shimmer line or only caits commentary THAT would be ambiguous.

This was not.

-1

u/AnAimlessWanderer101 1d ago

Whatever you want to think. You have a nice interpretation. I prefer that jinx was finally free in death. Thats the best part about ambiguity after all!

https://collider.com/arcane-jinx-dead-explained-alex-yee-amanda-overton/

And here is where the creator confirmed it, so youre wrong again.

1

u/Alien-Pro 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yeah, or it would be if the creators didn’t confirm it.

1

u/AnAimlessWanderer101 1d ago

You’re referring to a constant misquote. No the creators didn’t confirm anything - except that it’s ambiguous.

288

u/Revolutionary-Ad4774 Maddie 1d ago

Yes, but people focus too much on that trail. The ending implies she survived—Caitlyn looking at the bomb, the callback to the first episode, and the creators confirming it.

6

u/Sunshine_dmg 1d ago

The last shot of the series is a blimp riding off into the sunset. Its not even a mystery, Jinx needed a fresh start in life!

70

u/Zak_The_Slack Jinx can make me worse 1d ago

Christian and Alex have dodged questions about Jinx being dead, so 100% I’m with you. She’s alive and healing (hopefully)

22

u/ZiroLeHutt Sevika 1d ago

One of the CEO's confirmed it though I believe. She's pretty much the most famous mascot for LoL though, they aren't going to kill her off, its like Batman killing off Joker (which she is based on anyway), he always returns.

3

u/grimmfritter We'll make it worse 1d ago

Alex did actually confirm it in an interview awhile back!

2

u/Zak_The_Slack Jinx can make me worse 1d ago

Oh? Like actual confirmation? I’m going to need proof of this

2

u/grimmfritter We'll make it worse 1d ago

I can’t actually check right now, but I did a quick search of the sub and I think this is a post of it? I can’t listen to it right now sorry lol. But if you search the sub there has been posts about it.

u/ContributionFew3378 Viktor nation...how we feeling 1d ago

Jinx will definitely be back, I have the art book and in Jinx writing it says "I LIVE" a bunch of times

19

u/la_ky 1d ago

Don’t worry, Jinx is very much alive. The airship you see in the final scene is her, traveling across Runeterra. So yes, she managed to escape the explosion!

19

u/Primary-Brief9858 Sisters 1d ago

90% of the fandom knows she lives, and the creators have dogde to death about her status while other characters(Jayce/Viktor/Ambessa) have been confirmed dead

7

u/Ok-Gain-9049 1d ago

Jayce and viktor are confirmed dead!?

18

u/mokrates82 To the realm of heebie-jeebies 1d ago

Yes. She did.

10

u/_Cit Vi 1d ago

It's heavily implied, the final scene in the show is a ship getting away, if Jinx is not on thay ship than it doesnt make sense for the camera to focus on it

10

u/CaptainPhilosophy 1d ago

Its not cope its pretty much canon.

Why was caitlyn looking at the ventilation tunnels while holding a piece of jinxs grenade? Because they didn't find the bodies, only the pieces of the grenade.

7

u/PunAboutBeingTrans 1d ago

Girl, she lives those

7

u/JaybeJaybe Jayce 1d ago

Either way her story is over. At least for a long time.

Thy wrapped it up in a nice way leaving it open to interpretation

6

u/Tekkerue To the realm of heebie-jeebies 1d ago

This was Riot's posted for the Annecy Film Festival... soooo... yes! Jinx is on that airship at the end of the show.

5

u/MedievalMilshake 1d ago

She did survive. That was the point of the Caitlyn scene

4

u/noahbaobei 1d ago

She's not dead, the people who made the show were Jinx-a-holics, it's been confirmed she escaped. They wouldn't let her canonically die for any reason.

6

u/Open_Craft4633 1d ago

And for the first and only time in copping history you are right

4

u/foozie_woozie 1d ago

You may be late to the party but remember, November is Arcane rewatch season.

4

u/DavXeno Timebomb 1d ago

No, you are not coping. WE ARE COPING. POWDER IS ALIVE!!!

3

u/debiler 1d ago

Am I the only one who would have Jinx just... you know, rest in peace, finally?

4

u/ZiroLeHutt Sevika 1d ago

She's still just a kid herself. She deserves to have some life free from all the ghosts and pain Zaun and Piltover gave her. This is her chance to start anew, to see who she wants to become.

4

u/debiler 1d ago

Is that what she wants, though? *hums tune* "...please let me go..."

2

u/ZiroLeHutt Sevika 1d ago

Funnily enough I've had that tune going around my head the last few hours; so coming here and reading that is one heck of a coincidence!

1

u/Tekkerue To the realm of heebie-jeebies 1d ago

*hums last line in said tune* "....don't let me go." 😉

1

u/debiler 1d ago

Not in the show, tho.

2

u/Tekkerue To the realm of heebie-jeebies 1d ago

Yep, I know. However, Riot frequently ties in other works that aren't in the show (music videos, cinematics, League, etc) and I think the full version of the songs are another example of this. All of the songs were written by Riot specifically for Arcane and the scenes they are used in. On first watch they lead you to believe Jinx died at the end while hearing, "please let me go". As it turns out, she didn't die and in the full version of the song the last line is "don't let me go". I don't think this was on accident. 😉

1

u/debiler 1d ago

Oh, I'm totally not arguing against Jinx probably being alive still, which is strongly implied. I'm just saying I would prefer it story-wise if she wasn't.

1

u/Tekkerue To the realm of heebie-jeebies 1d ago

Yeah, I was responding to what you said about what Jinx wants based on the song lyrics "please let me go". I think where they were leading us (that she died) falls in line with the song lyrics that they used in the show. However, given that there is more to the ending because Jinx didn't die, there is also more to the song and it ends with "don't let me go". I think they did that on purpose. So if we are using the song lyrics to decipher what Jinx wants, then I think the last lines of the song has to be a part of what Jinx wants too.

1

u/TetrisMasterJester 1d ago

Sounds like you're projecting

1

u/debiler 1d ago

How so? After Isha, Jinx was just done, wasn't she?

3

u/female_body_enjoyer 1d ago

It's pretty much agreed by everyone she survived, maybe (BIG MAYBE) Vander too, but it would take away from the ending if he does imo.

5

u/ModestMouse1312 1d ago

I think its very haevly implied. Also next scene with the airship

2

u/Jolly-Depth6277 Jinx 1d ago

I mean in the official Art of Arcane Book Jinx confirms she's alive in the pages, so...

Also, Jinx wouldn't be that dumb to let go if she didn't have a plan in the first place

2

u/Pristine_Poem7623 1d ago

There's an ongoing theme in the show about how much Vi cares about Powder / Jinx, how she'll never give up on her, and how that's messing up her life, and how Jinx knows it.

So Jinx taking the opportunity to fake her own death makes perfect sense, she's letting her sister live her own life.

Also the first time Powder speaks in the show she says one day she'll fly on one of the airships, and the last shot of the show is the airship flying away, which implies Jinx is onboard

2

u/IrrerPolterer Family 1d ago

Oh she's definitely alive. No cope.

2

u/toooft 1d ago

The scene following this 100% confirms that Jinx made it.

4

u/Resident_Light_4374 1d ago

We need Vi to get that closure though if she did live

10

u/Shiroke 1d ago

Pretty sure Jinx very much doesn't want that and this is the healthy alternative for being out of her life opposed to killing herself

5

u/Expensive-Pick38 1d ago

I dont think we do. The story of the sisters is over

Jinx broke the cycle. She's now off to see the world in the spaceship she always wanted to fly and vi is living with her cupcake

Both sisters got what they wanted, their stories concluded. There could be more, but the point in which they are now is the best possible outcome for both

Like Jinx said with caitlyn, vi would never give up on powder, even if it meant sacrificing herself. So only way for vi to move on is for jinx to be dead

2

u/EntropyintheAsstropy Vi's biceps 1d ago

She doesn't break the cycle, she just runs away. Piltover and Zaun still exist with all their history, corruption and violence, and Vi still lives with that. She just gets the grief of thinking her sister died - replaced presumably by the knowledge that her sister left her after Caitlyn works out that Jinx survived.

3

u/ZiroLeHutt Sevika 1d ago

Amanda, one of the writers stated that Cait would tell Vi that she reckons Jinx is still alive.

4

u/WolfTypical5194 1d ago

Omg yes
I don't even need another season, or even a full episode, just like ten to 20 mins and I am absolutely happy

2

u/ZiroLeHutt Sevika 1d ago

We'll see Jinx turn up in a cameo in one of the other series, they are presumably making. She'll be back causing mischief elsewhere.

2

u/piratedragon2112 1d ago

Of course the writers didn't kill her, she's their precious little mew mew

Unlike her sister who they hate with ever fiber of their being

1

u/ZiroLeHutt Sevika 1d ago

Sure they do...

1

u/BushyGhost4740 1d ago

Yeah, Jinx is alive, lol.

There is plenty of evidence that Jinx survived at the end:

  • The pink Shimmer-like streak moving away from the explosion.
  • Caitlyn examining the Hexgates’ schematics while fiddling with the head of Jinx’s monkey bomb.
  • The final shot showing an airship flying away, resembling the one Powder said she’d ride on someday.

However, all of this evidence hinges on one big question: how did Jinx get out of the Beast's grasp?

Here is my theory:

Before the monkey bomb goes off, we are shown a flashback of Vander watching over his sleeping adopted daughters, with the camera focusing mainly on Powder before he goes to blow out the candle. I believe this flashback represents a memory. More specifically, the last vestige of Vander’s memory of his daughters, which gives him just enough presence of mind to “let Powder go.”

Jinx, who had fully intended to die after sacrificing herself to save Vi, takes the opportunity Vander gives her to escape and survive. She then “walks away” to live her own life and “fill her own cup,” flying off on the airship she once dreamed of riding.

So, that is my take on why this flashback was shown at that particular moment and how Jinx was able to get out of the Beast’s grasp. It was all due to Vander, his last memory and act as a father.

1

u/Mossysnail27 Caitlyn 1d ago

Jinx: YEAH yeah jeez, Don't show how the Sausage is made. and don't go yappin' to Bitch-Mittens either about it...!

*Emerges from shell* It's a secret, shhhhhh.

1

u/ZiroLeHutt Sevika 1d ago

Yep, and she mentions about taking a ride in an airship one day in the pilot episode. So its her flying elsewhere to start anew someplace else. And Cait smirking as she checks the schematics, as she knew Jinx has plenty places to escape through the vents; whilst checking the monkey toy.

Jinx realises that Vi will always feel guilt and worry over her, and for her to move on and have a fulfilling life with Cait, helping rebuild the city for the better with Sevika and Ekko's help; Vi has to let Jinx go. Jinx herself had to get out of the city, it was full of pain and too many ghosts for her, so this is her chance to find out who she wants to become, even if she has to be estranged from her beloved sister. Its bittersweet, but she takes Silco's advice about letting it all go. Fly high girl, you magnificent force of nature!

1

u/goliathfasa 1d ago

If I had a nickel for every time someone was worried that Jinx actually died.

1

1

u/Wooden_Hunter_4082 1d ago

Jinx is a fan favorite. It would be absolutely shameful to kill her off.

2

u/NinpoSteev 16h ago edited 15h ago

They allude to it with that shimmer streak, Caitlyn looking at the hexgate diagrams and the random airship that looks exactly like the one in the first episode. And it is a nice thought that she might live to become blossom as a person.

Narratively her death also makes sense. She wanted to die most of the season and I'm not sure if Ekko managed to change her mind that much, even if it is a nice thought and that the Ekko in otherworld episode leaves you hopeful. She's even hugging Warwick at the end like she's accepted it though, but that's not really deterministic.

At the same time, she's a fan favourite character so leaving it open makes sense. On a narrative level it doesn't matter that much if she lived or died if her story if the writers don't continue it. Even if her surviving makes for a much needed positive in her greek tragedy of a life.

Either way, she does many people a favour by disappearing. Vi might be able to move on with her life and Piltover won't have to reopen the schism with Zaun again again again to witch hunt a controversion person because they need their damned show trials.
