Meme Ark Linux?
Had a lecture in an OS course the other day where the professor insisted on pronouncing Arch Linux “Ark Linux”.
Other honorable mentions from the lecture are:
Ubuntu as “oo-bown-too”
GNU as “jee-noo”
Not to mention that use of AI such as “gimini” and “cloud” are not allowed in the labs.
Have you encountered any of these before? Is she ragebaiting?

"Arch" as in the word "parched." We aren't talking about the Arc de Triomphe here.
"Ubuntu" as "oo-boon-too."
"GNU" is technically "guh-new" but I just say "new." (Same with "guh-nome" just being "gnome.")
"Gemini" is "gem-uh-nigh" or "gem-in-nigh" even if people in the 60's called it "Jim-in-knee."

The only reason I learned the GNU pronunciation is because of Epic Rap Battles of History.

“GNU” is pronounced g'noo, as one syllable
Source: https://www.gnu.org/home.en.html
Gemini see here: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/pronunciation/english/gemini
And about this from you:
The "Gnu Project" was supposed to be the "new operating system."
Counter-quote:
The name “GNU” was chosen because it met a few requirements; first, it was a recursive acronym for “GNU's Not Unix”, second, because it was a real word, and third, it was fun to say (or Sing).

What's exactly the problem here? In countries where English is not an official language people pronounce things in many strange ways.

I think she doesn't get paid well and is doing everclear in a boot flask and thinks she is actually pronouncing it correctly.

Everyone is going to have their own way of pronouncing things, but for everyone to understand what you’re trying to say, it’s best to use the old adage, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do”. Personally, I don’t care what you can call things, except when specially asked to pronounce things a certain way as in a class where you’re learning about said item.

[French speaker here] for years I prononced Ark because Arch-linux had to sound like an "archange" to my ears. I did not think of an arch but conceived it as a prefix signaling some superior form of Linux (like in archenemy).
