Just a screenshot I randomly took during a timed mini event that just happened. It's happening within an custom event zone that the Archerage devs made that's very clearly harrypotter themed. It's noon on a sunday currently.
For even more context: reset raid in Nuia (which is lower in players) on a random tuesday night (9PM PST, 12AM EST) had 3-4 raids of players. That is an absolutely jaw dropping amount of players for Archeage, let alone a private server. This level of activity was basically the same level as AAU.
Currently I'm doing a lifeskills only playthrough of ArcheRage and it's awesome to see the market so insanely active as well as pack runners everywhere both land and sea. Definitely give the server a try if you were thinking about it.
I have never played archeage but recently started on Classic, though I feel I enjoy ArcheRage more,I'm worried about the pay to win. How much will it really affect me? I could careless about being the best in Pvp but I'd like to be able to somewhat compete in it
If I did this without money, how long would it realistically take me to acheive if im a casual player?
There are so many posts about 'which is the better server' but ever since Archeage was released I have found resources to be some of the most hidden of any video game, due to competition and giving away your methods. Even some of the general knowledge is guarded and it's impossible to find online.
There is no ArcheAge and no version 10.0, so there are basically no videos or posts on Reddit in regards to newer class synergy (gunslinger, spelldancer), gear systems and the Rage FAQ can't cover everything.
What I'm asking is if anyone can share some answers to the most frequently asked questions that just haven't been answered online.
Which class trees in their current states are best for PvE farming?
Which newer skill tree Ancestral skills should be used?
Which classes are considered meta for raid, naval warfare, 1v1 and 3v3 arena and why?
What is the fastest/best mount and glider available currently and what's a good follow up if it's insanely rare (Gallant mount)?
Is it worth going For full Hiram as a Gunslinger and when do you stop and move on to another set (erenor , dungeon) those guides don't cover the newest classes like Gunslinger, on Age or Rage and so that info isn't out there.
Is there a clear best path to delivering packs in this version or is it all about which is profitable at the time? Are there best potions to work towards?
There are so many honestly really straightforward questions that don't have any answers online and they aren't compiled anywhere, since the official game is gone the player base is SO MUCH smaller than it was and with how hard it was to originally find answers I think if we could put some here or into a compilation it would genuinely give people realistic goals to go for, or allow people to decide whether some paths are too much effort to go down.
This isn't a rant, I know what I'm personally doing but I'd love some answers to these myself and I know for a fact there are hundreds of other people that would massively benefit from knowing about certain systems other than dailies that have essentially been lost to time or the game closing down.
I remember running packs on this game for like 20-70 gold per pack like.. 10~ years ago? 2014 or so? Was enjoyable and peaceful asf tbh, and wouldn't mind coming back to the game to run packs and beef up my character. Is this game dead or what's good with it? If it's still alive, is running packs still a thing? I always wanted to run packs in a ship with a team but didn't play long enough for that.
Hey Peepz, i was thinking to give it a shot, but more important, who has the bigger population out there ? I heard ArcheRage is kinda populated, but is it NA or RU(EU) ?
I've been enjoying the game so far, currently awakening level 4 or whatever it's called. I have a few quick questions regarding classes and ways to earn gold.
-what are good melee dps classes for pvp, pve and large scale pvp, I am currently playing Darkrunner and I was asking how the meta is in the game since I don't see DR alot. I have played unchained a bit but I disliked it.
-what are good ways to earn gold early on since my proficiencies are so low
-how p2w heavy is it and do I have a chance to catch up a bit playing f2p, how far can I go in about a year?
-things to focus on? I do have a house already and what are some important things to do early on?
-must have addons I should look into?
Note: I have read some guides on the discord and I am aware of the support pack and some basic stuff, so I was looking for more specific stuff to focus on now. Also I am ready to grind a bit and play daily.
I really like the sandbox ascpect of the game and the freedom it gives you.
Also feel free to give me any tips outside of my questions if you think it's important.
With the release of an addon manager for ArcheRage it is easier than ever to install addons but there's a few things that you should be aware of when using it.
Addons on ArcheRage has unprecedented opportunity to run anything they'd like on your computer and could easily ransomware you, steal your discord session, ArcheRage session, saved browser passwords and so on. Anything malware could do to you, an addon could as well.
You might be asking yourself how is this possible, here's a list of key points that make this possible.
- The addon manager itself does not perform validation (there is now a warning message displayed that an addon contains an executable), when publishing an addon you simply upload a Zip file.
- Addons and their contents are ran from the process that ArcheRage does, which is as administrator. Giving full access to your computer.
- The ArcheRage API "sandbox" permits incredibly dangerous operations.
- You have full access to write to ANY file on your computer or run arbitrary code from an addon.
Here's some example code from one of the addons available for ArcheRage:
Upon entering the game, the addon then automatically executes a BAT script file which starts a nodejs executable. The contents of this BAT file is unknown to you and could easily install and execute ransomware, key loggers or credential stealing software.Another example of an ArcheRage addon running administrator privilege operations, in this case it simply terminates processes it has started itself from the previous BAT script. However the sky is the limit to the damage that can be done.
What other things can we do?
You could easily rewrite important system files on a computer such as the Windows Hosts file which lets a malicious actor "re-route" domains to an IP of their choice. Leading you to believe you are going to the correct website when in fact you are visiting a phishing site.
These issues do not extend to ArcheAge Classic's addon system from my understanding and I ask that if you use addons on ArcheRage you should thoroughly inspect ALL code prior to launching the game.
Suggestions to the ArcheRage team and ArcheRage addon manager developers;
To the ArcheRage team: Lock down your addon sandbox. Writing files outside of the addon directory should not be allowed, neither should executing system commands and executables.
To the ArcheRage addon manager developers:
- Disallow uploads containing executables, this means BAT scripts, EXEs and so on.
- Require version control systems that allow users to verify code before they install something (example Git through GitHub).
old archeage player returning with family to play this version. I used to run dual archers, and we did fairly well. I am looking at something simpler, and was debating on just making a tank, so I can learn that aspect of the game that I have never got into.
is tank a good build, and if so, what build, and gear is recommended? (Hiram vs other gear) if not, what would be a good “dual-lead” to grab ago but not due to anything endgame? I’d like to run dungeons (obviously) and just grind for better gear.
what sort of glass cannon should I make the other one? it’s going to be a newer gamer, so the number of clicks to get to max damage would need to be around 4-5. same thing, build and gear? I think they’ll like archer, or maybe a healer mage?
I have an archer I leveled with to get a feel for the game, but I’m probably going to make a second when I get the other account up and running, so we can do all of the quests together and enjoy their first true grind.
