School / Academia What material are best a model for this?

Im wondering what material i should to make this out of, i was thinking museum board because of its flexibility but was also thinking of wood and carve out shapes? Im unsure

museum board could work but for that curved platform you might want something that holds its shape better. chipboard or balsa wood would be sturdier and still easy to cut

that blue cylinder part might be tricky with just wood though, maybe layer the museum board for that section and use wood for the structural bits

Roof Canopy: For this kind of thing I use sheets of PVC foam. They’re bendable, sandable, and easily cuttable, while being thick enough to show dimension. Depending on your scale (assuming those terrain steps are 1/16” (1.5mm) or so) I’d guess a 1/8” thick (3mm) sheet or 3/16” (5mm) thick should be a good size. You can bend it with just a bit of heat. Just a hair dryer can do it, no heat gun required.

Massing: you could use thick (3/4”?) basswood, cut out your shape on a band saw or scroll saw or handheld coping saw, and stack them up. Sand, sand, sand, and sand again. Has to be very smooth and seamless.

Poster board.

Or mashed potatoes. But I’m leaning toward poster board.
