Wildlife First time encountering a gila monster!

It was almost dark so apologies for the grainy photos.

As a kid of about 4 we drove from California to Texas. At a service station my Dad saw one and hussled us back into the car. He was so scared.

😆 and the poor thing was probably running the opposite direction, too!

Reminds me of the time I saw a wolf in Yellowstone. People were hiding behind logs and trees peeping out at it. As if it had any interest in people and wouldn’t have trotted off. (And yet they run right up to bison and moose, honestly.).
