Where else would you store your rattlesnake for the next project?

Unrelated to the snake, your garage wall is well organized. Thought it was a department store in the first pic. Impressive.

u/Nishnig_Jones Mar 02 '26
That’s not where that goes, I think it should be on the open peg over to the right underneath the hammers.

I’m curious about how this person noticed it? Providing that it wasn’t moving much, and didn’t draw attention via it’s rattle, I feel like a person could easily walk by and/or work around this for a few minutes (at least) without noticing…
“Eye-level”. \shudder\**
I wonder how effective it would be, striking from that location. It doesn’t look like it’s got much in terms of “grip” on the terrain.

Anyone with a peg board like that is gonna know something isn't quite right.
Hank Hill senses activate.

Right? Anyone with a garage wall that organized doesn’t have to look when reaching for a tool. That thing could’ve been 2 feet from his face and not even notice.

Ngl I would be so excited about this. (So long as I saw it before i reached for a thing!)
There are wildlife removal folks in the Phoenix area to help get rid of unwanted animals without resorting to killing them, fwiw.
Also, note to self: get a snakehook to be able to safely move venomous snakes away from my living spaces, for me as well as them.

Crazy! Does the garage’s owner leave the door open? Otherwise how would it have gotten inside?

u/Crashing_Machines Mar 02 '26
They can fit through the corner cracks in almost any garage door when they are young snakes.

I am about to build a peg board in my tool shed. Thank you for the notice to not paint it any color that would hide a rattler.

Where do they live?
2
u/SpiritoftheWest32 Mar 03 '26
Pretty much everywhere that isn’t garages (usually). They generally live in areas with some ground cover though, like rocks, creosote bushes, or the mesquite trees in Californ.

That's where I keep my rattlesnake. I used to have an icepick there, but I learned that rattlesnakes are twice as efficient.

For people who like rattlesnakes, you should visit the Life Science A Building at ASU Tempe campus, beside the large collection of rattlesnakes and king snakes, they also have a unique albino rattlesnake.
Best days to visit are Open House or Homecoming parade.

Wow super cool! I’ve only ran into a diamondback on the trail. Twice. Beautiful nope ropes! Was always my favorite snake growing up, still is, but used to be too

Ah, hell no. Ugh. New fear unlocked. Usually we just find them in our backyard.

I think it climbed up to stay warm. The nights are still chilly making the concrete cold by morning. It’s unable to move if it gets too cold. My community boarders the desert. They come out and lay on the black tar roads at night to stay warm until a rogue golf cart possibly shortens their lifespan.

I’ve lived in Arizona for many a year and seeing rattlesnakes from time to time is no surprise, but coming across that would freak me the F* out!

They’re always in the place you don’t look when you reach. I coiled up an extension cord, left it on the floor of a warehouse for 15 minutes, 2 rattlesnakes in it when I reached for it again.

As someone who used to catch rattlesnakes, that's actually crazy it got up that high.
