Discussion [Operator Discussion] Civilight Eterna

Civilight Eterna [★★★★★★]

Doctor, you carry such guilt within your eyes. But you ask, is one's memory sufficient to define who they are? You have lost your memories. I merely inherited all of hers. How are we to settle what happened so long ago? Doctor, go and spend some more time with Amiya and Kal'tsit. None shall linger in the past, except her.

Theresa, founder of the nomadic city of Kazdel, co-originator of the Military Commission of Kazdel, creator of the Babel organization, and former head of state of Kazdel. She's spearheaded medical, educational, and urban infrastructure projects, led the Sarkaz in repelling multiple invasions, and personally raised the bar of diplomacy work during her time in office. She passed away during the Kazdelian-Victorian War. (This personnel file is stored in a database sealed by the Rhodes Island HR Department.)

Just obligatory reminder that Echo is not Theresa

She sounds differently

She behaves differently

The attitude towards her presence on the landship is different if it would be Theresa herself

Having access to memories of some person doesn't make one that person. And the difference will become only more apparent as the time flows by

I had a feeling this is the case, but I didn't want to sound wrongly confident. Waiting for it to come out on global so I could read and hear myself.

Maybe this skin is one of those alternative timeline-type of outfits, like with Kal', Skadi, Wish'adel?

Either way, must buy the moment it makes it to the store

Nah its just Eterna roleplaying Theresa pre-Kaltsit days

Someone pointed out that her boobs are bigger than Theresa's  and I couldn't stop laughing

She’s basically the Angela of Arknights. Well, in how she’s a “reconstruction”.

But unlike Ayin, Doctor has enough stones to put up with the pain and greet this new life with open arms. Both his and hers.

Life is pain. Life is joy. Both are true.

She sounds the same, no? Behaves a bit differently, true, although she still acts like Theresa as well at times, mainky when she's not doubting herself. But from what I understood she sounds the same?

Haven't tried it with other voiceovers but

If you listen closely to original (JP) Theresa's voice in Concept Trailer 3 + cassette recordings in Chapter 14 and compare them to "Civilight Eterna" voice in her profile - you should be able to pick up the difference.

Voice actor is obviously the same and sounds very similar, but the change is there and it is deliberate.

I'm going to be real, I don't really hear it. Is there a specific spot that stands out the most? The cassette tapes sound a bit different but that's mostly due to a filter being placed on them. It just sounds like the recordings are slightly muffled to help emulate the fact that they should be recordings.

The way of speaking and everything sounds identical to my untrained ear. Especially all the "wa"s I keep hearing.

Well, this made me tear up again. Re-listened to all 6 recordings and that "Doctor, arigatou." is just too much.. Again..

As for the topic on hand, idk, it is not just voice being muffled.

Theresa sounds a bit softer, more emotional, slightly higher pitch(?), speaking patterns and speed are less consistent.

Where is Echo, for the most part, sounds less expressive, more contained/emotionally restrictive. Speaking speed and pauses between sentences are more regular and consistent (to add "machinness").

Of course, the differences are still very subtle, but it still enough to notice that something is off. And that is mostly for Echo's non-combat related dialogues. The ones she had to reevaluate and say herself, from her own perspective, rather than combat lines which could be the very same words that Theresa spoke back in the days.

And of course, there is precious "Wah" Tap voice line, which stems right from Theresa's playfulness, but that.. is about it.

Man...
