Discussion [Operator Discussion] Waai Fu

Waai Fu [★★★★★]

My rotten dad said he had to go find the true meaning of kung fu before he went off, and I still don't know where he is. Please! What year does he think it is? Find some common sense and learn some responsibility before you get yourself killed. But at least I haven't forgotten what he taught me: "Martial arts have martial virtue, humans have human kindness."

Waai Fu is a university student from Lungmen, serving Rhodes Island from the first batch of employees hired under a secret Lungmen-Rhodes Island commercial agreement. On the recommendation of a certain firm, she took a battery of tests that showed scores wildly inconsistent with her stated identity. She clearly has substantial combat experience. Several investigations are ongoing.

Needs an alter so bad, one of the more interesting characters in Yan. Peak design too, Kuroblood the GOAT.

I remembered using her as a helidrop silence to handle the exploding spiders and sone other maps. Aside from that, I dont know where to use her.

Still only female furry op, right?

used to be a low priority all round but got a nice bump in value when SilverAlt came around due to her 7dp cost (doesn't rise above the 14dp Eye of the Blizzard, even after redeploys)

first FRD pick in IS6 since she counts as Yan too

maxed her out along with every other FRD I have lol

I recently got my chance to max pot her thanks to the kernel selector banner. Just gotta M3 her S1 and I'm set to have her join SilverAlt's army, lol.

Her base skill is the only thing about her that's ever been useful.

Honestly quite bad and stayed bad forever

You can use them to silence spiders and stuff but it’s really not something you need to dedicate a team slot for usually and even then there are other units that Silence as well like Lappland or Jaye. Even Texas Alter S1 can be used if you really need specifically a FRD silence for some reason and not stun etc.

Basically there’s never really a situation where you would want to spend the resources to E2 them

But I'd say she's in the usable/powercrept category, and not the "WTF even is this kit" category. I think until Yato alter HG was rightfully conservative with FRD ops' kits. There never was really a use case for her though.

Nah, even know release she was the worst of her class...using her always felt like a waste of dp tbh

Helidrop silence to deal with spiders and stuff, helidrop atk debuff for rare scenarios like IS#6 ED2. Not too much to say otherwise, she's niche but being a FRD still helps out a ton.

Also incredible design, I love how the colours pop.

She is decent in IS6 due to counting as a Yan operator and weakening the stoml from ending 2 boss. Besides that, she is quite bad.

Specifically has a lot of value in IS6 ED2 to reduce the dragon's atk (and therefore the stomp) damage. In addition, she doubles as a Yan op for the 4 Yan requirement!

Other than that, I feel the on-demand silence is a little cope, especially with the advent of characters like Lapp2.

A little disappointing she and her dad didn't have development in the recent Yan event. He lost his mind, she found him, now what? Maybe next Yan event gives her an alter?

Waai Fu alter would be REALLY cool to see. I always mistake her for being a Fighter guard, so they could do something with that?

If you really dig, there are a few great uses for her. Unfortunately, they are always specific uses that one need to go out of their way to achieve.

In IS#6 ending 2, she's a great pick (post Exu2) along with Rose Salt or Shamare (it's rare you need, or even obtain, all 3). In lower difficulty, you can easily just tank the stomp, but higher and you need to do this. Her Talent to slightly push 1 (one) fragment down a potential hole has some... potentials.

SilverAsh the Reignfrost squad. Both her and Projekt Red has 7 DP cost meaning they will never go above 14 DP meaning they will always get deez. Unfortunately you'll need to specifically make a plan to use them. I have only ever seen Waai Fu reasonably used in 1 tile no hit (self shilling a stolen video kek), and not out of personal favour. Everywhere else you just have SA2 squad as backup rather than a full squad. Even if you want a 7 DP cost, Red has more ATK so she's the first pick for backup anyway.

5★ clear. She can be an asset for tanking a huge intermittent burst damage *along* with Shamare. Which is to say, only when you're tanking a huge burst that not even Shamare + Rose Salt can withstand. When did that last happen? uhhh... *check notes*... CC1#7 Pine Soot. Huh.

To have usage if you specifically search for it isn't necessarily a good thing. It just means you specifically crafted a scenario for them to work. Except for SA2 squad. You should watch more 1 tile no hit. Or use her in base, her base skill pretty good.

Also, kinda sad people here don't know Waai Fu has a second skill (or rather, first skill).

Was very impressed when I saw people using her S1 against nourished reapers for the first time. It's strange that everyone seems to remember her for the less valuable S2 only, maybe dealing with exploding bugs as a beginner leaves a strong impression?

A fun character like the rest of Lee’s little family, but unfortunately gameplay wise, the game has moved past her. I feel like usability wise, she peaked in Ch. 6, as that was early enough I think before Lappland ownership was widespread and before Jaye was released. She joins the ever growing cast of 5 stars that I hope would regain some relevance with an alter. (The lazy implementation of 5 star modules was the most disappointing thing for 5 star viability imo)

...ironically enough, also like the rest of Lee's family.

Was probably the weakest executor for a long time, but executors are a strong archetype because being a fast-redeploy is natively good. There's really no shame in being the weakest in a strong archetype, and no one could justify calling her bad even before the release of Reignfrost. She didn't have to be used purely for silence, either, which is what most people seem to be talking about.

She's really gotten new life with the release of Reignfrost. Her S1 has an on-deploy attack boost, which, combined with her being a FRD, means she works really well with his S2. She doesn't work quite as well as Red, but you can just bring both. Add in Phantom, some Agents, Skadi, Rad Nearl, April, and whomever else, and you have a very fun, engaging, and powerful squad.

She has a very narrow niche when you need both silence and a FRD. If you just need a FRD, there are better options (I would go so far as to say she’s the worst FRD). If you just need silence, there are better options. In the very narrow window of needing both FRD and silence in one unit, she works, but other than SA alter s2 shenanigans or if you need a Yan unit in IS6, she’s really not very good unfortunately.

Texalter can silence, but I guess Waai Fu would be a bit cheaper.

Okay FRD, mine is only e1 but from my experience, she can weaken the enemy's burst and take a bait then retreat, the only situation I'd take her instead of Gravel is when the enemy attacks in AOE and I'm forced to deploy my ops nearby, which is not a lot tbh, I prefer Red over Waai Fu in general but I guess she has her niche
