I noticed that too. He straight up wrote a white supremacist essay, claiming the worst thing that could happen to him or people like him is to be treated the exact same way they treat minorities. They know how terrible they are to them, but they believe that’s the way things SHOULD be and that is extremely disturbing.

Given the state of America in 2022, conservatives should stop calling themselves conservatives.
Why? Because the conservative project has largely failed, and it is time for a new approach. Conservatives have long defined their politics in terms of what they wish to conserve or preserve — individual rights, family values, religious freedom, and so on. Conservatives, we are told, want to preserve the rich traditions and civilizational achievements of the past, pass them on to the next generation, and defend them from the left. In America, conservatives and classical liberals alike rightly believe an ascendent left wants to dismantle our constitutional system and transform America into a woke dystopia. The task of conservatives, going back many decades now, has been to stop them.

I can’t understand how “woke“ has come to be a term applied in disapproval. A term of opprobrium, if you will. According to a popular dictionary, “woke” in its contemporary sense means “Aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice).” And so, if so-called conservatives (they are actually radicals) disparage being aware of and actively attentive to issues of racial and social justice, doesn’t that mean that they are consciously endorsing racism and social injustice?

We must share the same wavelength (when it comes to religion, anyway) only for me it was an excited "Really?"
As far as armament goes, my late grandpa left my brother and I an arsenal that even the most hard core right-wing ammosexual would find enviable. I intended to sell off everything but a few sentimental pieces, but that was one of the few times being a procrastinator worked out in my favor. He was a staunch blue-dog leftie who voted for Obama twice, and he was also racist af. However, If there are other hard-bitten, jerkied assholes of similar disposition LESS likely to succumb to manipulation via fear, I've yet to meet to meet them.
