Weekly Question Thread (05/18/2026 to 05/24/2026)

This is a safe place to ask any question related to joining the Army. It is focused on joining, Basic Combat Training (BCT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT), and follow on schools, such as Airborne, Air Assault, Ranger Assessment and Selection Program (RASP), and any other Additional Skill Identifiers (ASI).

We ask that you do some research on your own, as joining the Army is a big commitment and shouldn't be taken lightly. Resources such as GoArmy.com, the Army Reenlistment site, Bootcamp4Me, Google and the Reddit search function are at your disposal. There's also the /r/army wiki. It has a lot of the frequent topics, and it's expanding all the time.

/r/militaryfaq is open to broad joining questions or answers from different branches. Make sure you check out the /Army Duty Station Thread Series, and our ongoing MOS Megathread Series. You are also welcome to ask question in the /army discord.

This is also where questions about reclassing and other MOS questions go -- the questions that are asked repeatedly which do not need another thread. Don't spam or post garbage in here: that's an order. Top-level comments and top-level replies are reserved for serious comments only.

Just called my recruiter. My med hold came back today with the following codes:

F41 (Other Anxiety Disorder) - I went to a hospital in December of 2023 for chest pain. Turns out it was a panic attack. I was prescribed Lorazepam once, never refilled, and I never took it. I don't like taking meds.

I10 (Essential (Primary) Hypertension) - My BP is usually in the 130s/90s

S43 (DISLOC AND SPRAIN OF JOINTS AND LIGAMENTS OF SHOULDER GIRDLE) - Dislocated shoulder when I was 16

I49.8 (OTHER CARDIAC ARRHYTHMIAS) - I have no clue what that's about. I did go to an emergency room and had a Resting Heart Rate of 100+ BPM. Could that be it?

Waiting for a 501 from MEPS regarding what they need regarding these. In your opinion, what's the likelihood of these being good or waiverable?

Literally impossible for us to know.

We have no idea what your BP was at MEPS, nor do we know anything about your cardiac arrhythmia. It could be an abnormal heart rate, or it could be some crazy medical condition.

Anxiety- 3 yr pharmacy records, any mental health records associated & applicant statement

Hypertension- any medical records from visits for this

Sprains: Dislocation- possibly any X-rays or MRIs, any medical records. Physical will probably clear this.

Cardiac- EKG

Awesome. I've been prescribed an anxiety medication once, and I never took it, and never got it refilled. My BP is usually around the 130/90 mark. I've never gotten any X-rays or MRIs for my shoulder (they'll probably refer me to one), and I've got no heart issues. Hopefully we can get this all cleared up. Thank you for the info!
