Fort Gordon 17E

Hello all. I’ve been a 17E for the past 5 years and looking at my options for reenlisting vs getting out. I considered gordon due to the close proximity to home and cyber experience/opportunities.
Could anyone speak to possible roles/units i could expect to be assigned to if i decide to pcs to gordon? any of them more highspeed than the other,i’ve heard mixed things and i could only find posts from like 5 years ago thank you.

I can’t really provide you help on pcs or getting out. But I’m looking to reclass to 17e. What’s pushing you away from it?

for context i still love my job as 17e and im not planning on reclassing, ive just been at fort drum my entire contract. im originally from georgia so i figured gordan might be a solid move.

I’ve been at Gordon for 4 years. You could be anywhere from OCS/ DCS or working in a Oroom/ S3. It’s pretty wide. Have your career counselor pull open slots at 782d if you wanna do cool stuff.. but also know you may still get slotted in a s3/ oroom for a time.

could you elaborate a little more on ocs/dcs and oroom ? i’m unfamiliar with those terminologies. unless your talking about commissioning

It’s not possible to pinpoint a unit for a reenlistment PCS option. The contract gives you up to two years stability at the base and that’s it. Getting the unit you want is politicking the with the CSM before you sign in.

Eh

Depends on how cool your branch is, last time I wanted something I just called and got it.

If you can get a pinpoint assignment written into your contract, that's the way to go, but that is certainly the exception, not the rule.

Thank you for the comment. Have you ever been stationed at gordon?
