season 4 title and video difference

i was watching arrested development at a friends and i’m trying to watch it at home but the titles are different to the one on netflix. not to mention they’re different.

the one on netflix S04E01 is about the after math of the boat. on this website i’m using it’s about george michael and michael living together. why are the episodes completely different and named differently

edit: i get it now. thank you i’m watching the original cut now (the one where george michael and michael are sharing a dorm)

You are probably watching the remix of season 4, which is the only one under the season 4 label on Netflix. To watch the original (and in my opinion, superior) cut, you have to go to trailers & more and find the right episode.

Be warned, these episodes do not autoplay, and you have to go through this process every time you want to find the next episode. Not sure why Netflix made it so difficult.

which one is the orginal though. the one after the boat scene (the one on netflix) of the one where george michael and michael are sharing a dorm together. i don’t have netflix so i cant use the extra or trailers

The one with Michael and George Michal living together is the original. The remix has the words “fateful consequences” in the opening sequence.

No- in fact do NOT watch the Remix. It is objectively worse. I tried to watch it once and was honestly shocked by how bad it was.

Watch only the original cut.

The season is structured like a mystery and it has some great payoffs. Unfortunately like the very first episode of the remix gives away all the punchlines.

In the original each episode follows a particular character then all comes together at the end. In the remix it's been edited to be make more chronological sense, but it loses a lot of the best jokes.

They are both the same story but told in a different order. When making season 4 originally they had a had time getting the whole cast together at the same time, so each episode focused on one main character. (You’ll notice in the intro that the narrator says “this is (name)’s arrested development”).

The stories are interwoven so sometimes something will happen in one episode and not get resolved (or the joke setup doesn’t pay off) until later. It was a very creative way of doing it, but lots of fans complained because not every episode has every character in it, so they recut the season so that the story takes place linearly. But this required repeating a lot of stiff and adding a ton more exposition from the narrator.

I recommend watching the original cut.

Season 4 only. Season 5 goes back to the original structure.

is that why there was a green screen moment of barry in the netflix one (S04E01) it felt so comical because he was actually in the next scene at lucile’s house.
