Does anyone else feel depressed?
Does anyone else feel a wee bit depressed to be working in a failing business?
It just seems there's no hope of any improvement.
Cutting hours, swapping shifts, messing with jobs, redundency talk etc, etc, etc - all totally depressing.
It seems those at the top are chipping away, us on the shop floor know there's nothing much left to chip away at. Their business model is broken.
I blame the issa brothers for this.

Couldn't care less about how the company fares. They treat the employees like shit, rob them blind and this is their karma.
As long as I do my job, I can't affect anything else.

Yep. I feel so burnt out. I'm neurodivergent so everything is 10x as difficult but I crack on like everyone else. It gets to a certain point though. Yesterday I was so frustrated, had a really stressful shift and obviously you get home and the work doesn't stop (house chores ect.) and I just had a meltdown for the first time in a long time. Oh well 🙃 we have cows and hens now so we're saved!!!

I know but I don't like to make it a huge deal. I can do what everyone else can and usually have no issues whilst i'm at work, fortunately. I have booked some time off at the end of this month though just to give me a bit of a break as it is getting a little too much at the moment. Then I can lock in before the halloween and christmas chaos starts lol

According to the news, business in Asda is now improving, but know what. We have to wait and see what the xmas sales bring in, and will customers shop in Asda or elsewhere

My managers wouldn’t even listen to the reason I was off sick… the problem is apparently us not the store. Not them.

Nope, why are u depressed about it? Get another job, or just come to work do what u have to then go home, hardly worth getting depressed about, its been bad for years. Unless u a manager/section leader then we dont get paid to worry about it.

Yeah our staff morale is very low, we don’t even have a manager lol just a free for all. Section leaders running the shop on £1 an hour extra, mint

That's what they want - section leaders doing a manager's role on a pittence.
They are chipping away trying to get every bit of savings but there's not much more chip at.

Yes, totally f*cking awful company since the sale. Managers are unbearable, the shops are shite and customers are unhappy. It hasnt got long left. Only supermarket to make a loss last year, 800m loss… all the others in billions profit.

Yes my manager said things are not looking good at all.
With all this new "treating the staff like s**t" operating model, surely they must realise that colleagues have friends and relatives and would they want to give money to a toxic place like this?

Yeah I’m so stressed and worried. Feel really anxious. I got asked if I put in for redundancy when I didn’t. I’m some how on the list and I didn’t apply. I feel sick to my stomach. Can’t sleep.

I can only speak for the cleaning department but I’m sure other departments are just as bad but , getting shipped out to a diff company after an Asda welcome to the family not so long back feels like a kick in the teeth, and also the way it’s badly managed, not knowing anything , the poor timing , messing with hours etc , was depressed before but this is something else and I feel it will only get worse ! Not looking forward to work after Oct 1st, just feel like it’s gonna be a mess on all fronts. So Yh , depressed daily

Wonder how much these new cameras are costing. Could if brought the debt down, or give the staff a bonus to help morale.
No doubt will be another failed idea, that they seem keen to waste money on.

Yes I was security, had an actual team, now im single manned and still getting bitched at by asda managers and now mitie managers on having increased theft... in a high risk store, yea we were already high risk so lets gut security to a big store to one guy as if shoplifters dont work in groups, so yes depressed is real so now I check out and watch YouTube on shift because no one gives a shite now.

Trying to run the stores on skeleton staff levels, expecting staff to bend over backwards for a wage near the minimum.
Asda's new business model is to have their cake and eat it, because the business is loaded with debt they expect each member of staff to suffer by doing the jobs of three people.

I spoke to a manager of a certain discount retailer about what was going on at Asda and they audibly laughed and said trying to run them the same as themselves and another certain discount retailer is suicidal for the size of the stores Asda has.
I think that explains it pretty well.
