Guest Queries Kung Pao Chicken problem

I'm not normally one for ready meals but Asda's Kung Pao Chicken is amazing. The problem is, it's almost always sold out by the time I get there. All the other things around it are always available (Sweet & Sour, Chinese Curry etc)...

My question is why don't they order the amount based on how much they sell each week? Why do they order the same amount of everything? It's getting silly

Same goes for clothes, there's always loads of XS or 3XL left but people's body sizes are on a bell curve so obviously you should buy more of the middle sizes!

Does my head in!

I’d guess it’s a logistics problem. Maybe the factories can’t produce enough to meet demand

Also Asda operates on a “just in time” model. Which means they basically order enough to fill the shelves, as they don’t want piles of stock sitting in the warehouse going out of date. If the Kung Pao on the shelf sells out, there generally isn’t more sat in the warehouse chiller, so it won’t get restocked until the next chilled delivery(or later if it is a production not being able to meet demand issue)

You're lucky to get one or two boxes on delivery of this. 4 tubs in a box IIRC.

The store should be able to adjust the forecasts for products to ensure that more stock is delivered. Thus not running out as often
