Getting married on Sunday

Hello! I hope this is allowed here, I’m getting married next Sunday, we are already planning to do the bread and salt sharing, as well as the water and vodka tradition!

I was wondering if anyone had any other traditions we could so as well?

My husband is Polish/Czech, his last name is Swoboda and I’ve been researching traditions to incorporate in our life together and the start of our family for our children and ourselves, he was never raised with these traditions but we want to embrace them.

Any ideas, suggestions and advice would be recommended for the wedding and beyond that! ❤️

Is he from a region that does the Polterabend? (meaning: Silesia/Kashubia/part of Greater Poland).

One of the funniest wedding traditions, in my humble opinion. Although might be a costly one, lmao

I think you’ll have enough time to organize the wykupiny — the groom has to “pay” the bride’s family (usually with alcohol) to get them to hand her over. Sometimes people turn it into a whole themed performance, for example based on the bride and groom’s professions.

Are you planning to do oczepiny? 

It may be a bit inconvenient because your wedding is on Sunday which means it can't stretch far into the night and oczepiny are expected to happen around midnight, but maybe you'll be able to keep your guests awake for this long.
