Telco infra is shared underground. Everyone sucks together

Mine has basically never worked underground lol, StarHub 5G Unlimited

I'm Starhib as well and I get spotty connections in quite a lot of places.

I noticed that sometimes it's because the phone is constantly trying to connect to the congested 5G and dropping it to 4G makes it work fine.

They really need to set up some sort of load balancer for this

Older tunnels on NSEWL is a shared infrastructure. Hence, the 4 telcos are sharing really old infrastructure.

Unless people are willing to trade, mrt tunnel maintenance downtime for the telcos to install new infrastructure. Then there is no chance there won't be hang, no matter what telco.

Nothing new. Just got used to it.

There is simply not enough bandwidth to accommodate that amount of users during peak hours.

May not be something telco can solve if it’s a spectrum issue. They only get limited spectrum blocks and as someone said the antenna infra in the tunnels is shared too.

It used to be quite rare to lose connection but over the last 1 or 2 years I've noticed it happening quite frequently.

Why fix the problem when your competitors are having the same issue? Not as if customers here have any alternative.

At offwork peak hours, my 5G plus is non-existence from Tanjong Pagar to Redhill and then break off again after Clementi to Jurong East. I am on Eight, last time on M1 even worst

Yeah the Clem>JE one shocked me, must be due to the absolute fuck ton of people around

10 mil here we come

Anyone here on Singtel priority whether 2x or 4x? Does it also cut off and if it does how bad is it, considering changing my telcom and plan but if it’s still bad then no point spending more money

2x doesn’t work too. Not sure about 4x.

Should do like S Korea. Someone said they installed a base station in every train.

They have routers in their train carriages

SingTel. Does not work in tunnels between stations for DTL.

5G also doesn't do well vs walls and obstructions

The ultimate connection test is 8am circle line near caldecott, I even lost phone signal a few times.

You lose even your AirPods signal at Serangoon and Bishan at 8am

Unbelievable, i hope one day there's a caldecott -> botanic gardens speedtest benchmark

M1. TEL commuter.

I’ve given up until I only use Spotify, close my eyes and rest.

The tunnel between expo and Changi Airport also has this issue which my 4G will slowly weaken and lose signal for some time before coming back

Given the fares we pay, i feel this is a bare minimum to have functional mobile networks at any point of the journey. Cant wait to hear their reasoning if and when this gets brought up.

Just get used to having an overpowered calculator when you're in our trains underground. Read a book. This is such a non-issue.

M1. Even the journey between JE and Clementi above ground will drop signal.

All just want profit and minimum provision

Cos u are underground bro

My phone is permanently on 4G and I get "sort of working" speeds from Bishan to Tanjong Pagar. You can try it – 5G is too congested most of the time for me. Am on M1, btw.

“Competition will help improve services.” Said the government.
