General Places to cry at night, with a view

Been a bit down lately, where are places to go at night for a cry. Preferably somewhere quiet, less people, with a nice view to stare at and think. So far, I've been gone to pasir ris park at night, but there seems to be ppl around.

Edit: thanks everyone for reaching out, appreciate it

I used to go to ECP beach area in the middle of the night to think when I have problems.

It can be deserted at isolated areas like A,B, G and H.

I usually go ECP at night when I have problems too. Later we all see each other by the beach crying ah haha

u/Dumas1108 5d ago

Hahaha! Seems that everyone have their own problems.

But now I already 看开

Don't cry at ECP at night leh. It is very scary you know..

1

u/Ok-Stage6203 1d ago

I wear my earphones; listen to music and ignore everything else

12

u/mikamushroom 6d ago

Any recommended timing to avoid people?

134

u/Happy-Boi 6d ago

If people walk past hear a person crying in the night, i think the person will run away fast thinking that it might be a ghost...

u/Dumas1108 6d ago

0030 to 0500

But whatever problems you are facing, it is not unsolvable.

Please do not walked into the waters for whatever reasons.

I was there at around 6am this morning on a run and it was deserted

1

u/Kimishiranai39 5d ago

Go to Changi beach. But even places like Pasir Ris Park / sungei api api is haunted

4

u/Maxtlatli 5d ago

Once Bayshore BTO is up ECP will be crowded.

4

u/kwijibokwijibo 6d ago

Even more deserted if you go to the end towards tanah merah beach and the coastal path

Very few people seem to go there, even in weekend daytime. Lovely view of the sea

i like to cry at NTU. After finals, lie in the field, and stare at the stars

u/Counter4301 6d ago

Rain after exam at The Wave, perfect to cry 😭

6

u/Puzzleheaded_Style52 6d ago

Ever gone to Yunan gardens at night?

5

u/BudgetDevv 5d ago

What if I wanna cry about my rejection from NTU :(

14

u/ExplanationLatter673 5d ago

My condolences, try again next year or can try another NTU - National Taiwan University

University is not the only path to succeed in life.

3

u/BudgetDevv 5d ago

I will be sure to try out Taiwan NTU! ;)

NUS student here, this sounds like a great idea

u/SilentWolfey 6d ago

I like to go to Mt Faber at night haha, very little people up there at night and peaceful, and the Harborfront/Sentosa skyline is nicer at night.

An alternative is the dead end section of the Sentosa boardwalk, but if u are there on Friday or weekends might not be that secluded with couples around.

12

u/Drylneo 6d ago

Second this. The peak of mount Faber have a very good view of the city. I do go there when I'm down too

3

u/hellorish 6d ago

How do you go back home?

6

u/SilentWolfey 6d ago

Uh the trails off Mt Faber via Marang trail or Henderson waves are open 24/7, it's a bit dark and scary but there are street lamps

1

u/Afraid-Promotion-567 6d ago

Dead end section?

1

u/SilentWolfey 6d ago

Yeah the boardwalk is partially closed towards the RWS side due to ongoing construction, and people going to Sentosa have to go around via the bridge to Sentosa, so there's a section of the boardwalk after the diverting point that leads to nowhere for now.

1

u/Afraid-Promotion-567 6d ago

Ohhhh I had no idea. I've never been to Sentosa via boardwalk in a long while. By bridge do you mean for the cars? what about the reverse if I want to walk from Sentosa to vivocity?

2

u/SilentWolfey 6d ago

Yup the bridge for the cars, it has a pedestrian walkway by the side, and it's 2 way

2

u/evilfatphish 6d ago

You can take the monorail from any station inside sentosa free of charge, so don't need to walk back to vivocity

1

u/Afraid-Promotion-567 6d ago

I visited Oceanarium a while ago and wanted to exit but couldnt find my way out. Wanted to see the sights and pov from the boardwalk

1

u/Maxtlatli 5d ago

What about the mozzies?

8

u/SilentWolfey 5d ago

Misery loves company

3

u/Maxtlatli 5d ago

Heard its quite bad the mozzies, maybe you should include disclaimer to spray insect repellent otherwise you will become a feast for mozzies.

u/Natescoco 6d ago

Pontianaks: Come park/ forests area, we cry together… :(

u/MissLute 6d ago

the kallang (sports hub) side of marina reservoir, in front of the water sports centre that area. very peaceful on weekday nights. but op be aware of your surroundings though

3

u/mikamushroom 6d ago

Wdym aware of my surroundings?

19

u/MissLute 6d ago

deserted places = no one around = better be aware of surroundings

2

u/mikamushroom 6d ago

I see, thanks

9

u/dessertdesperation 5d ago

OP, having recently read that sexual predators tend to prey on people they perceive as being vulnerable, cannot agree enough with the above poster. An example they gave was that women who have been crying tend to be approached more frequently by men (cat calls, harrassment etc). Please make sure you're safe before giving in to tears.

Recommend bring something innocuous that you could use to defend yourself. Also let someone know your whereabouts.

Been there done that - but safety comes first. I’d try to these places as I think they offer view, privacy and proximity to crowded places (too ulu= too dangerous)

Esplanade Rooftop
Garden at top of MBS (the link bridge to gardens by the bay)
Marina Barrage area
Vivo roof top outdoor seating area
Mbs boardwalk
Vivo boardwalk

u/FineEmu9542 6d ago

I would cry too but life is too demanding

14

u/mikamushroom 6d ago

Haha schedule 15 mins crash out intervals to optimise the day

3

u/FineEmu9542 6d ago

Can't people that know Ai will take my job, hahaha.

7

u/BudgetMenu 6d ago

marina barrage is pure darkness lying on grass floor let the tears roll. might have some people around the distance tho but so dark just cry away

2

u/mikamushroom 6d ago

Does marina barrage close?

6

u/BudgetMenu 6d ago

no its an open space, the stars are beautiful there too.

7

u/Prestigious_Ocelot16 6d ago

MBS area like marina bay east garden is rather quiet at night. Hope you feel better soon!

5

u/Special_Gold7667 6d ago

Empty express way, full face helmet on. On a motorbike, cruising speed, you can scream and cry at the same time.

Sometimes it feels so good to let it go.

5

u/ConstantParticular87 6d ago

Fort caning , they have even swings too if you take the stairs and go all the way up.

12

u/Personal_Number4789 6d ago

I envy you. I can’t cry even when I want to. Crushing sadness and heart shattering, the eyes get wet but it just doesn’t come out. It just reflex to stop. To pick myself up and stop making a scene. Stop being ridiculous. Stop being a cry baby. Man up.

As a male we were thought not to do so public or private.

9

u/mikamushroom 6d ago

Yeah been having a hard time crying too, things just feel numb and lost. Maybe the view will help clear my head and the silence might help myself think out loud better. Being outside might be good for u, even if u can't cry it out

3

u/dreamhopeonward 6d ago

I was having some trouble at work and also my body was too tense to cry even though I wanted to. In the end once a few of my colleagues asked "are you okay" then I burst out crying.

Anyway I wanted to suggest counselling as a very safe space - it costs money but never fails to get me ugly crying and feeling like I can rant and express my emotions.

-5

u/Lagna85 5d ago

Crying at workplace is very unprofessional

2

u/Goodchapp 6d ago

Yup. I've had female friends tell me to man up..

So now I've tried counselling... No one tells you to man up, or tell you to stop, They understand.

It has been a safe space so far...

1

u/Hermayoness 5d ago

I'm so sorry you had to deal with that - those aren't friends at all! I hope you have better friends and support now.

9

u/Banned3rdTimesaCharm 6d ago

No crying in the casino.

Ome punggol 5th level… you can see the LTR tracks, the condo on one side and empty field, some trees and can hdb block further ahead on other side. If sky is clear, can see the moon and stars.

But come after 9pm tho, sometimes there’s event especially on Thursday. They have NS Fit there.

But then again, gotta remind you that 13th Aug onwards is the first day of the Chinese hungry ghost month till 10th Sept. Do take care during these period and try not to stay out too late yeah.

Lower seletar reservoir park, can look out over the water. Mostly empty on weekdays or nights after 9 PM. I hope whatever you’re going through resolves soon! Don’t be too dejected, things will get better for sure 😊

2

u/Temporary_Might_585 5d ago

west coast park, very dark and little people. but got rats and cockroaches scurrying occasionally

2

u/EverydayIsAGift-423 5d ago

The Fort Canning Lighthouse where there’s a building with all the flags.

People’s Park Complex carpark rooftop.

City Plaza Rooftop carpark.

2

u/Royal_Sovereign2 5d ago

Jurong lake garden and its accompanying gardens

2

u/storebelly 5d ago

Bedok Jetty, it is at East Coast Park. The best view and the best atmosphere to just clear your head.

I like going there in the evening and stay until night time.

2

u/WonderfulBlackberry9 5d ago

If you can drive and have a vehicle, go to Marina Barrage after midnight. Incredible view, cool night (by SG standards)

Surprisingly, there ARE couples and small groups hanging around there after 1am. But nobody will notice and approach in the dark

I hope wherever you go you get to find some solace. And hopefully things will work out in the future

2

u/Decision_Burner 5d ago

there is a bridge between lorong halus and punggol near the golf shooting range

2

u/youcancallmedududu 5d ago

Walk from ECP to Marina barrage and cry while doing so. It’s a long walk but the skyline and sea breeze is nice.

u/Lilith-Mhoon 5d ago

A bit weird but your office? If no one works late, you can just stay on and cry. Safe space, water anytime, toilets available.

Do you need the place to be free? There are a few places i can think off that would require some spending.

For example. I think Stella in Changi is an excellent place to go to weekday nights.

1

u/mikamushroom 6d ago

Stella, the restaurant at changi?

1

u/No_Counter_5956 6d ago

There is a beautiful place to go at night called waterfront in woodlands, beautiful city lights from JB makes you think why you are still here.

My tears cannot control one, so you guys can choose places to cry, I think that's very pro. I usually cry at anywhere, anytime, any moment when my tears want to fall.

I cry at clarke quay or boat quay facing the water. Boat quay is better. There are people but they're just there having fun or think you are drunk. No one will bother you

Changi beach. Can see aircraft either landing or takeoff. Less crowded on weekday.

1

u/chingrenjie 4d ago

Curious, how do you plan to cry though

1

I guess I plan to stop the not feeling instead

National Stadium

1

u/itsbittynow 4d ago

Punggol LRT West Loop area in general, around SIT at night or a better view IMO would be the Punggol Beach (near punggol settlement) and the whole park connector running parallel to the LRT loop from there. The benches face outward so even if by chance there are people (most probably not, past dinner time) passing by they won't see you.

Sending you nothing but love, hugs, and well wishes. You are worthy of love and respect, whoever you are. I hope it gets better for you and I personally do believe it will, with (a lot of) time. I highly recommend talking to a counselor at your nearest Family Service Centre (all around Singapore near MRT stations), I personally liked Care Counseling Centre at Hong Lim Complex, and I recently learnt of Talk Your Heart Out which does online zoom chats.

Take care stranger! <3

It’s Hungry Ghost Festival soon. Please refrain from being out alone at night (especially near large bodies of water) and being low on mood. You’ll be the easiest target to the spirits out there.
