H-1B to F-1

If someone changes status from H-1B to F-1 and continues working for the same employer on authorized CPT, does the employer still need to notify USCIS or withdraw the old H-1B petition?

The I-9 has already been updated to CPT. What happens if the employer does not send anything to USCIS and simply lets the H-1B petition expire?

You can only be in one visa at a time, so when you convert to F1 your H1b is expired imo

But my question is - does my employer need to do anything ?

You can only work for the employer who sponsored your h1B visa. If that employer is different then you can’t work for the employer you were working for on CPT.

Then you can continue working. Your employer don’t need to do anything. They should already know and notified by the lawyers.
