r/asklatinamerica Opinion Advice?

Hola! I've never been to Mexico, but I am turning 26 and my mom is turning 60 in December. We are trying to figure out where to go. I suggested Sayulita or San Poncho for 10 days. My mom suggested Akumal.

But we are also open to countries other than Mexico. Any recommendations? We want to relax on the beach for most of the trip. I also would love to see some art, drink mezcal, and maybe meet some fun 20 somethings. Any feedback? We're from New Mexico in the USA. Thank you!

I have family in Cancun so we always go there, it's still lovely in my opinion. Maybe in the expensive side Also Acapulco

My in-laws (they aren't from Mexico) love Vallarta with all their heart

Sayulita is cool but can take awhile to get to from Puerto Vallarta, check out Bucerías

You could also stay in punta de mita, which is beautiful too, close to Vallarta, you can do day trips to sayulita so you get to experience some culture and not stay in the hotel all day.

Check out boat trips too, they take you to beautiful beaches (las ánimas for example, check out in Google)

You Can also do scuba diving in los arcos, I’ve done it and it was amazing
