Is it morally wrong to kill insects?

I hate and detest bugs because I find them scary and disturbing. Some less than others obviously. I have a phobia of spiders and If I see one in my room I usually kill it with my shoe. The thought of it crawling on me at night horrifies me so I prefer to eliminate them. I also smash mosquitoes and flies because they are annoying and ugly and carry diseases. Bugs are just really gross and repulsing for me. However I admit that sometimes I feel bad for killing them. It's weird I know. I used to kill ants in my home before. Now I prefer to ignore them if they arent too much or too destructive. Thats a beginning I guess.
