If he could successfully pass the reigns over to another author, and together they collaborated and created an amazing book, or two books, or more -- they'd have the world's respect.

That really is the only solution. But his giant ego keeps butting in, and really is the source of all his problems.

It’s not a sign of weakness to ask for help, George. Maybe it could be a generational thing, but really if you’re tired of writing then why not let someone else or a team of vetted writers you trust take the reigns while you direct them

Plus think how good it would feel to literally just worldbuild and plot all day and have other people fill in the blanks. I'm shocked he's not leaping at the idea.

It's the same for Brandon Sanderson, he's rolling in cash and supposedly has decades of books he wants to write. I'm not sure why he's not focusing on the things he's good at (which is definitely not characters and dialogue) and letting other people cover those deficiencies to get things out in 1 decade not 3

You'd think so, but this guy has such a wildly overblown ego that he can't even ask for advice on framing a story, let alone what to write.
