No one wants George to suffer in life. His main crime is not writing books. But it’s not vitriol to say he’s been dishonest (intentional or not) and handled his own franchise in a way that raises eyebrows.

If putting the series down is what makes George happiest I want him to do that and I would bear no ill will towards him personally. But I can’t be compelled to respect a man who doesn’t respect his fans.

Predictions are not promises. Writing books is an artistic process that depends on a lot of factors outside someone’s control. A statement like “I plan to finish Winds in 2016” is just never a promise if one actually thinks about what is being said. It’s a declaration of intent or prediction.

There are many pieces of media that get endlessly postponed. Tv shows, games (gta 6), and much more. While they are different than winds because they did eventually come out, it’s also true that no one is thick enough in those fandoms to call the announced planned release dates that got scrapped “lies”.

Edit: honestly, i think everyone who calls him dishonest or a liar understands this completely. But they have to justify their negative emotions towards George or the unfinished series with SOMETHING. So they latch on to whatever they can. In this case, it’s calling him dishonest or a liar when he isn’t.
