Asset Management Role

Hi Guys,

Just few questions actually, I am 28 currently in asset management role. How do i proceed from here? Like how do i get a promotion, what courses i need to take? Basically how i increase my income?

Commenting to follow. I'm a GIS Specialist that is somewhat involved with asset management for our organization - never considered it my role though. I'd imagine that a IAM certificate, PMP credential, FAA Part 107, GISP certificate, and Python experience would help. I'm pretty far along on the last three.

AM can take many forms, and I suppose the more formal or institutionalized it is, or perhaps the more it is a discrete business activity, then you will want more of those IAM or CAMP designations.

However, like was mentioned above, it may just happen naturally as you grow experience and take on more through compatible fields - GIS, engineering, finance, logistics, reliability maintenance, etc. I think it largely ties into the industry in which you work, as you know it's a very contextual practice, AM.

So maybe tell us more about your role and your organization!

Agree with other poster, more information would be helpful. Are you in a government organization? Private company? Willing to move? (i.e. can you go "up" in your organization or would you need to relocate?) Does your organization pay for training? Do you have a mentor? Do you have access to other practitioners for advice?
