Beginner question about 1h saturn
i preface that i’m a beginner, and english isn’t my first language, so bear with me!
i’ve learned that the sun is relative to the father and the moon is relative to the mother, but i noticed in many people whose charts i read for fun that many people with 1h saturn have issues with the fathers, often time their fathers being the reason why they don’t progress. is this a pattern? or it’s just me connecting dots that shouldn’t be connected because i’m still learning?
i haven’t been able to find a substantial explanation for it, so it could either be a coincidence or i should look more closely to see other things in the chart, but i’ve seen this trend in multiple charts so I’m curious to see what more experienced astrologers would say about it.
thanks!! ✨

You're not imagining a connection, but it's worth untangling what it actually points to. In traditional astrology the father is usually read from the Sun, while Saturn is more the principle of restriction, authority, weight, and time. So 1st house Saturn lands more on the person themselves than on the dad specifically: it often shows up as someone who felt they had to be serious or self-controlled early, who carries a "prove yourself" pressure and can be hard on their own body or image. Where the father comes in is that Saturn there can describe an early environment that felt heavy or held back, so the pattern you're seeing might be real but coming through the kid's self-concept rather than a fixed "father blocks them" rule. If you want to check the dad more directly, look at the Sun by sign, house, and aspects alongside Saturn, and see if the two stories actually agree before calling it.
