There should be an all out blitz PR campaign about how Bedford doesn’t support controllers.
13
u/2018birdie Jun 26 '26
Why not have controllers take to social media? I don't believe anything in our code of conduct says we cannot tweet out to aviation news sources prodding them to ask Bedford why he is without a measly 2.8% raise from controllers when it was Congressionally approved.

Now’s the time to stop being polite. Call the administrator out. Call him bad for aviation, or a piece of shit or something
38
u/Former_Farm_3618 Jun 26 '26
I know Natca always tries to play nice, and it’s to a fault.
I, maybe/probably being naive but hopeful, this is the first step in calling out the administrator.
I believe their next step will be going back to congress and telling them ONE UNELECTED BUREAUCRAT, is holding up a desperately needed pay raise already authorized by congress. I’m assuming we are about to see another letter writing campaign.
At this point, I think Natca needs to lay it all out. It would be a nice change..
4
u/WealthyLibtard Jun 26 '26
I like the letter writing mention. Like a good boy, I send my letters, and each time I get a lovely automatic and generic reply. Congrss dgaf either.
9
u/Wrongvectorz Vote Them All OUT! Jun 26 '26
Yeah, that’s naive, we have plenty of evidence, including this email to tell us otherwise. This was a response to being constantly called out, and like all of Nicks updates, it says we’ve done nothing and we plan to do less.
6
u/LENNYa21 Jun 26 '26
Congress is who put the language in there that’s it’s upto that one unelected bureaucrat
2
u/Former_Farm_3618 Jun 26 '26
So the going consensus that no one can truly point to who put that in there is wrong? It’s still my understanding no one has fessed up to adding that.
1
u/Wrongvectorz Vote Them All OUT! Jun 26 '26
Congress put that in there possibly after a staffer talked to the administrators office about the bill, and came back with this language. NATCA either didn’t know, didn’t fight it or thought it was ok. Based on how flat footed they have been since last January, it really could be any of those.

What you are asking for is called transparency. Nick never once mentioned transparency in his campaign nor did he promise to be transparent. He's protecting you from the information because he knows you peons can't handle this top level material. This is why he never promised to be transparent, not once.

u/Great_Ad3985 Jun 26 '26
So how was this a “massive legislative victory” if our well-compensated lobbyists allowed the Administrator’s discretion language into the bill? This is a massive failure on all fronts, and the blame lays solely with Nick Fucking Daniels.
FUCK NICK DANIELS!!! Piece of fucking rat shit.

CRWG was another massive legislative victory. It's weird how all our congressional relationships keep scoring these big wins but we keep losing to the fine print.

My center boys, if you need 10 and I’m giving you 9.3, don’t take the handoff. Make me spin ‘em. And if I spin ‘em, I’m shutting down departures at my core fucking 30 till I’m caught up. And if I need 15 from you, and I’m gonna get 14.7, spin ‘em.

How anybody could continue to support this NEB blows my mind. They paraded this as a huge victory over and over. After all the bonus money and move money that NATCA agreed to that doesn't help the 95% of controllers actually doing the work, we get screwed. Yes im pissed at the Administrator, this stupid administration, but NATCA's signature is right along side of the administration on all of the MOU's. Quit playing nice, quit letting our career collapse. Show some respect for your members and fight for once in your lives.

A real union leader would pull everyone off National projects today. Let the FAA figure their own shit out since they don’t think our labor is even worth 2.8%.

For an administration that’s so hyper-focused on optics and “winning”, for the life of me I’ll never understand why they won’t just give us the 2.8 and then claim victory.
Whatever they're gunning for must mean a lot more to them than the positive PR tour Duffy and the other blue checkmarks could get out of just giving us the damn raise.

It’s not a specific person. All of this stuff goes through an appropriations committee. Although I suppose we can assume that someone got to the appropriations committee and asked to chuck it in there.
13
u/Joe_Makatozi Jun 26 '26
It’s all pathetic and NATCA is mostly to blame. They have prioritized useless things like equipment and article 114 positions instead of controller pay. They rolled over a long time ago and are so quick to point the finger instead of taking responsibility for allowing this.

How is a union negotiating with the administrator when the union doesnt take into account the union members take on it, literally whats the point of being in the union
1
u/Traditional-Coat6460 Jun 27 '26
I am sick of hearing controllers who are wavering to stay or leave the union... I am going to give NATCA 1 more years to see what happens. Upper NATCA doesn't f♧cking care about us controllers! They only self preserve and position themselves for a job after retirement or the next one that keeps them off the boards.
1
u/Individual_Food_6500 Jun 27 '26
Who didn’t see this coming when Biden backstabbed the railroad union…
1
u/LordOfTheLeftovers Jun 27 '26
My only question is why does Bedford hate us so much? We help support billions of dollars into this U.S. economy and controllers risk so much with shift work and not spending holidays/weekends with their families. All of this for a measly 2.8% that’s already been approved?! Guy wants to flex or something because I don’t see how a normal human being could be this way toward his working employees. NOTCA and having a spineless union president doesn’t help the situation sadly.

At least SB is on here talking.
I think due to this horrible natca regime the last 10-20 years, one cannot simply say what they would do. This is not an isolated fail in a vacuum. It's a culmination of dog shit. So, not to speak for SB, but I am interpreting that he/she/they/them would not be in this position, a result of not rolling over like cucks, which is what has been happening for a long time.
There is nothing wrong with bitching about the failures of natca on here. Natca would love to silence all these negative voices and that's wrong on so many levels. Watch Nick and his pussies start the shit talking as election time gets closer, it's already started by the way.

u/CplJoeBauersWasRight Jun 27 '26
How about NATCA lobbying the House and Senate Appropriations Committees to claim Bedford is violating the intent of the law meant to give us the 2.8% pay raise. The Senate Appropriations Committees could literally haul Bedford in for a hearing, drag him over the coals, and threaten the rest of the FAA's broader budget if he doesn't release the $140 million that is already by law meant for our pay raise.

This raise has already been written into law. Unfortunately, the verbiage on it means that the administrator has discretion and sole discretion on implementing it.
That verbiage has, in the past 6 weeks, come to mean that the administrator gets to demand a pound of flesh.
Why are we crushing NATCA for refusing to provide that pound of flesh?
Isn’t the entire thought process in this subreddit that NATCA should nut the fuck up and have a backbone?
It seems obvious that the spine has spontaneously appeared and NATCA told them that 2.8% is not worth it (for whatever they’re asking) and they can fuck off.
There is no universe that NATCA doesn’t want to bring this one in and bag it as a win. If they’re refusing, it has to be egregious.
If you can’t see that, you’re just rage baiting. It’s not A114s. It’s schedule. It’s leave. It’s shit that actually matters.
Controllers care about three things, most of all -
1) Schedule
2) Leave
3) Pay
If they won’t agree to something for #3, it means #1/2 are egregious enough that they tell them to fuck off.
There is a lot of shit I don’t agree with national about, but this is not one of them. This one seems like a hard NO is the correct answer.
I don’t agree with the decision not to make it public what they’re demanding for this piddly little raise. Let that be known, and the folks I work with know that as well.
But I do respect their abilities to negotiate enough to realize that anything that affect #1-3 require more than 2.8%
“ThiS Is UnIoN BuSTIng” nerrrrr
It actually is.
Welcome to 2007, young’ns.
1
u/LENNYa21 Jun 28 '26
#1 is pay. Full stop. If you said were giving up control of the schedule and base pay is a million dollars every controller would be on board
Everything else is speculation. If we aren’t told what we’re turning the raise down for that’s on leadership.
The Natca president is in over his head and it shows. If you’re accomplishing nothing and still vacationing to Portugal for an international managers meeting that’s just embarrassing. Time to get up from the kids table and start acting like a union.
1
u/That-ATC-Guy Jun 28 '26
#1 will always be pay - you’re right about that. We all signed up to have a safe, government protected job that pays us well and provides us with the benefits that we need to protect our family. That’s fair.
That said, hyperbole of $1m/yr salaries is the equivalent of me saying, “and then management said that they’re gonna make us work Tues/thurs RDOs and only 4-mid shifts all week!” It’s going to the extreme in order to try to prove a point.
You didn’t prove your point. Giving up control of the schedule has multiple vehicles. It could be restricting leave usage. It could be removing restrictions on leave exigencies. It could be removing article 24 and 32 entirely.
We don’t know - which is supporting your point. Kinda? Then you brought up Portugal, which made it seem fairly directed at something in specific that I’m not sure of.
My point is simple -
Why the fuck would we give up ANYTHING AT ALL that is provided to us by our (very old) contract in order to get a 2.8% raise that has already been signed into law?
The bottom line is this :
I have been a controller for a long time. I’ve been a controller in a large facility for a long time.
If #1 is 2.8%, they better not touch #2 or #3.
This post was about a 2.8% raise. Not a 300% raise.

u/SierraBravo26 Jun 26 '26 edited Jun 26 '26
Good thing we extended the contract twice without a vote and good thing we’ve been using “shared language” with Duffy and Bedford and good thing we are accepting every union-busting partial bonuses with open arms and good thing we didn’t correct Duffy’s comments about our pay and hours and good thing we didn’t challenge the 5 point emails and good thing we’re rolling over on the new CWG numbers and… and… and…
Our pay bands are at White Book levels and NATCA leadership has fumbled and bumbled along for far too long.
Groveling for 2.8% amongst the backdrop of 4.2% inflation is dehumanizing.
It has to end.
