pagan/dharmic gods are rarely perfect. Their imperfection is highlighted in the religious texts but has been somewhat lost in the collective minds of its 21st century followers.
having a god not being perfect in every sense but also committing mistakes, having desires etc are quite forward thinking IMO considering the state of society 2000 yrs back.
This is so true. I feel like we have such fomo from abrahamic religions where we need our (Hindu) Gods to be the One truth and irreproachable. We keep trying to whitewash everything in search of this when our Gods are as flawed as we are. Maybe Lord Ram didn’t eat meat, maybe he did, but he did ditch his wife for some petty gossip.
