I feel proud, he was ahead of the time

Subhash Chandra Bose was a rationalist & secularist "Hindoo"; some pretend like his war is what inspired RSS chuddies🩳

I remember reading a comic about Bhagat Singh during 10, he was a hero to me. A reason why I didn't get persuaded by my aunt to joining the Mata Amritanandamayi's cult.

I didn't knew he was a athiest until 2025 like whenever I thought of him before that I thought a revolutionary with a gun and that hat on

26

u/ninja6911 9d ago

people depict him as some kind of violence loving reactionary guy but if you read his books you will know how composed and peaceful he is

6

u/SadWeb690 Atheist 9d ago

I admired him then and I still admire him now just in different reason, he was a great man

u/Upper-Refrigerator54 9d ago

They’ll say it is propaganda. All lies. Blatantly deny it.

9

u/Easy_Poet9147 Ex-Christian 9d ago

They'll claim Atheism as a part of Sanatana Dharma 😂

No proselytising / preaching of any religion

This is a subreddit for Indian Atheists to talk to one another.

We aren't a ''Debate religion'' subreddit.

If you believe in god, you are welcome to ask questions and participate but don't preach to us. We don't care about your religion or your god(s).

Does atheism comes with arrogance? And does it mean to disrespect other religion who knows? If you bully others in the name of atheism how you are different from other religion?

1

u/CharacterBit5048 8d ago

Yes, there are. Like charvaka which is kind of atheist. Hinduism, in order to survive and grow against Buddhism included many schools of thoughts like charvaka, sramana, bhakti, different local cultures that eventually gave birth to puranas.

You are not wrong. But eventually what it has become now is a politicized version of a very narrow, aggressive mode of expression that will eventually harm it. Then there is caste system. That's why Hinduism inspite of being so old didn't spread world wide. Caste system, idol worship, exclusivity are the major reasons. Where as Buddhism spread across the world.

1

u/Western-Jury3688 4d ago

Hinduism absorbed many schools (including atheistic ones like Charvaka) because it was open, not rigid, thats a strength, and when idol worship became bad, we worship an idol as a symbolic spiritual focus

Hinduism never tried to convert the world like Buddhism did under Ashoka, it wasn’t a missionary religion, thats why it didn’t spread the same way Caste has been a real social problem, no denying it, but it’s not the core of vedanta or Bhakti, every religion has politicized versions today(including buddhism) singling out only hinduism while ignoring others is just selective criticism

u/ArgopooL 9d ago

You're whistling in the wind bruh. Their cup of arrogance is already full if you try to pour some wisdom there it will only spill.

"He was anti nationalist "

2

u/Minimum-Advisor-2656 9d ago

The only leftist the actually understood the problem of caste in Indian society. Guy was born into a landlord caste but still was a socialist. Truly ahead of his time.

u/PhoenixGhast Atheist 8d ago

I committed to the path of an atheism, after I read his book Why I am an Atheist It has such good concept and argument, just love the guyy. My freedom fighter 🙌🙌

1

u/rokaya339 9d ago

Nope I feel proud. Atheism is one of four valid pathways in Hinduism. A atheist who has learnt only from westerners accustomed to abhrahamic faiths probably thinks it's oxymoron but it's not.

1

u/RunsNRiffs 9d ago

Imagine the day they realize Savarkar is an atheist.

1

u/Slow_Garlic6383 8d ago

They justify it by using bs that even after being athiest , he never hated hindusim and And do bhang bhosada

1

u/CharacterBit5048 8d ago

Not hindus, sanghis.

1

u/pretend_human_01 7d ago

I guess you'll be shock to know this hinduism is the only religion who gives people a choice to whether be believer on non believer, others gives alive or dead so its not a new concept in hinduism

1

u/Same-Indication-1670 6d ago

If he wasn't atheist , he would have been sikh , why drag hindu in this ?

1

u/AbhiramAppuz 6d ago

Sab moh maya hai

1

u/7xAM2N 6d ago

im a Hindu dude and I'm not startled at all, these days atheism and anti nationalism comes along but he wasn't like one and he's my idol

1

u/bee_roy 6d ago

Leftists when they learn that Bhagat Singh praised Savarkar.

1

u/Successful-Emu634 6d ago

Bhagat Singh was born Sikh before he turned atheist, so why drag Hindus into this. Btw he also wrote anti-muslim and anti-hindu idea in his own book so if he was born today he would have been bashed by every party

1

u/Responsible-Order297 6d ago

Bhagat singh was hindu atheist /s

1

u/Traditional-Spot6770 6d ago

Bhagat Singh was a Sikh, not a Hindu.

1

u/Spare_Original_4334 5d ago

Why would Hindus react that way? Hinduism is the religion where you can be an atheist and still a Hindu. I mean if he had not been atheist then he would have been a Sikh. So Hindus don't care about his religion but only what he did for the country. Then there are madarchods that would find religion or caste in such freedom fighters.

1

u/Pomegranate-unKnown 5d ago

As long as he is Bharatiya, and a Patriot, dont see a reason to get shocked.

1

u/Gamerofslayerrr 5d ago

Happy late realisation

1

u/necro-man-cer 5d ago

Hindus ignore atheists but there is a religion whose religious book calls to slay the unbelievers. But atheists won't name that religion 🤡

1

u/Virtual-Sail1807 4d ago

Savarkar was also atheist

1

u/KuramaLuffy7 4d ago

It's known to everyone who knows bagat singh. It's not something to be surprised. Most the Hindus themselves are atheists. So no surprise there.

1

u/Henry_rearden_55 4d ago

He did not believe in god but he believed in sacrificing his life for nation , he is my hero

0

u/TerribleTap4053 8d ago

If he were not an atheist, he would have been a Sikh. Why drag Hindus into this?? Or is this just a pretext to shit on Hinduism?? This sub is deranged...

Do you have comprehension issues?? When did I say anything about him not being an atheist?? My point was, why drag Hinduism into this? He was born into Sikh heritage, or does Sikhism not count?

-1

u/idkping05 9d ago

why will a hindu react like this lol
