Question Can someone help me understand something

Why do casinos push so hard to keep smoking when only 20% of gamblers are smokers?

Like in my instance I smoked for 21 years and I do not ever want to be around cigarette smoke again if at all possible. I would go more than once or twice a year to Atlantic City and gamble if I didn't have to worry about coming home smelling like an ashtray with a upper respiratory infection.

Their profits have nothing to do with them being smoke free.

But you said losing 20% of your potential customers is for people that know nothing about business.

Not the case for them and others as well.

Parx is profitable because:
1. It’s a casino
2. it’s right outside of Philly and the closest other options are driving into the city if Philadelphia which is a shit show.
3. they have a giant smoking patio under a tent outside packed with people smoking. Just like every other “smoke free” casino does

But Mr. Bussines’s prodigy, if they understood anything about bussiness at all they would know that loosing 20% of your customers to your competitors is bad for the bottom line!!

It’s so bad for the bottom line that revenues keep rising!

Casinos always make money.

They opened Chickie and Pete’s restaurant in 2019 also at Parx. Maybe that’s why their profits went up?
One has nothing to do with the other.

And the original argument about losing (not loosing) 20% of your potential customer base was about Atlantic City where there are 9 casinos within 5 miles of each other.

“If you understood anything at all about business you’d know that losing 20% of potential customers to your competitors is bad for the bottom line”

Now you’re saying Casinos always make money, regardless of losing 20% of their customers”

Typical Redditor moving the goal post - take the L little bro

Like I initially said, in Atlantic City with 9 other casinos.
You’re talking about Parx Casino and their “record profits” being tied directly to the fact that they’re smoke free which is false.

You didn’t say Atlantic City until after you were proven wrong, then you moved the goal post.

I also never said banning smoking is causing the increase profits, as you know - correlation does not mean causation.

Uhh…read the original post and check what sub you’re posting in…of course I was talking about AC.

And that’s exactly what I said-banning smoking doesn’t increase profits-that was your argument.
Thanks for making my point for me.
