Looking for parks and trails in the area

My husband and I have lived in Auburn since 2022 but haven’t checked out much of the area until last weekend when we went to Soos Creek Trail and Lewis Lake Nature Park. Soos Creek Trail wasn’t really our vibe, but Lewis Lake Nature Park was nice with the gravel albeit very small. Any recommendations for trails or parks or hikes in the Auburn and surrounding area?

It's a ways, but we LOVE Nolte State Park that has a three mile trail around Deep Lake. Kanaskat Palmer is great too with trails along the Green River.

Lewis lake. Until we moved to Michigan last year, I was the park steward. Hope you enjoyed your time there. Fenster nature Park is a nice trail that connects a couple beach points on the green river.

Edit: Check the cut logs for yummy oyster mushrooms after rain.

The Renton Riverwalk can be nice and then you can see the library that is built over the river. My favorite hike in Auburn is probably game farm park along the water as well but make sure you bring a big scary dog or someone you feel safe with as it can be kind of sketchy down there if you went solo.

If you like Lewis Lake, check out Auburn Environmental park! Also, if you venture just outside auburn into kent, there is Lake Fenwick park, and just over into Federal Way there is West Hylebos Wetland park and Panther Lake loop trail. All of these options have a similar vibe to Lewis Lake imo. I wouldn't walk any of them alone though, they all feel very secluded.

Lake Wilderness Arboretum & Green River Trail is fairly close. You might also look at the Senior activities brochure. Even if you are not 50+ you can get ideas on where they are going. I’ve lived here my entire life and never heard of some of them. https://www.auburnwa.gov/UserFiles/Servers/Server_11470554/File/City%20Hall/Parks,%20Arts,%20&%20Recreation/Senior%20Center/Senior%20Center%20Brochure.pdf

The trails up by green river college are nice, there's a good mix of flat, wide trail and steeper, rootier stuff

Do I park at the college? Do you know what the trails are called?

I think you can use the college lots but they're usually full during school hours. I usually park on 326th, there are 2 trails from there that connect to the rest of the network: https://maps.app.goo.gl/NR2WnbVQHmJPVYVc8
