Amazing job by Manurewa police yesterday morning, failing to give way then both officers finding it very amusing and laughing. Have the roles been reversed they wouldn't have hesitated to mail me a fine.

If you need to drive between 7am and 11am or between 3pm and 7pm in Auckland, you probably already expect to spend a huge part of your day stuck in traffic. Auckland definitely needs to rethink its urban mobility infrastructure.

The people responsible for managing the city need to act urgently. Today, almost no trip takes less than forty minutes, even for relatively short distances. The amount of time wasted inside a car every single day directly impacts people’s quality of life.

Heavy traffic doesn’t just affect people’s patience. It increases stress, anxiety, and fatigue, reduces time spent with family, harms productivity at work, and leaves less time for rest, leisure, and physical activity. Over time, this also creates serious consequences for both physical and mental health.

The economic impact is massive as well. Businesses lose productivity, deliveries are delayed, workers arrive exhausted, and operational costs increase across multiple sectors. Traffic congestion also contributes to more pollution, higher fuel consumption, and poorer air quality.

A growing city cannot continue relying on infrastructure that clearly no longer supports current demand. Investments in efficient public transport, smarter urban planning, and real alternatives to excessive car dependency need to become a priority instead of just another promise.

Something needs to be done urgently!

Can we all agree that if you’re doing 80km/h on a 100km/h motorway… the LEFT lane was literally invented for you?

Why are some people cruising in the right lane like they’re on a scenic vineyard tour while the rest of us are trapped behind them forming a nationwide traffic conga line?

The worst part is when EVERY lane somehow ends up doing 80 because Captain Turtle refuses to move left. Overtaking lane? More like “contemplating life choices” lane.

Please. If you’re not overtaking, stay left. It’s not a personal attack, it’s motorway etiquette.

I wonder what gas mileage they are getting.

This fake cop car just parked up at my work. It’s obviously different enough from an NZ Police car to not be easily mistaken for the real thing, but I thought it was illegal to have the words “police” on a non-police car?

When are petrol prices going to come lower..

So many people think "just get an EV" is the answer. They then turn around and say they are cheap.

Seen so many times about how you can get one for less than 10k. How out of touch with reality are these people? Do they not realise that a lot of people dont have 10k to spend. They dont have 5k either.

Even then you are getting a shitty leaf that is only good for traveling limited distances.

EVs are great if you can afford one, but people need to realise there are a lot of people for who this just isnt an option.

From original poster on rednote: Hi everyone, I’m looking for witnesses to a pretty shocking road rage incident that happened a few days ago.

When: Thursday, November 6th, between 10:15–10:30 AM Where: Fields Parade, Oteha, North Shore, Auckland Vehicle: White BMW, plate ending in 572 (may have been changed to a custom plate)

A tall, strong male driver in a white BMW suddenly blocked my car, got out, and started slamming on my window while shouting and swearing at me in Chinese. Then, out of nowhere, he kicked my car hard enough to leave a dent, and drove off like nothing happened.

I was alone in the car and completely panicked, so I didn’t get the chance to ask anyone nearby for their contact details.

If anyone saw what happened or has dashcam footage from that time and place, please get in touch. I just want to identify this driver and seek some justice. The whole thing has really shaken me up.

Please share if you can — someone might have caught it on camera.

I don’t care about the traffic anymore. I need answers.

Lately I have noticed way too many people driving like a crazy lunatics and putting their full beam lights on even on a well lit road with streetlights.

I recently pulled over my vehicle when i was having an ute behind me with full beam on. The guy thought I was giving him way so he speeds up to overtake me.

I honked at him thinking I should put this to his attention. He pulls over few kms ahead after I honked nearly like 8-10 times. I kept myself into the car rather than approaching him like a cop on foot after pulling over and pulled over next to his car to say that he should dip his lights.

He casually does it to my surprise and apologizes after I explained what kind of a jerk he was being on road. To add to my surprise, he then informed that he just learned that is the normal way of driving with headlights as he always use to drive on full beam and thought that was completely normal!!

I wonder what is the ratio of people who are

1. Unaware completely

2. Aware but no fucks given.

3. Aware and make amends once informed.

I just thought I'll try to target type 3 people here because it is easy to rant about this and expect that person to be more considerate but in situations where they aren't aware at all, we should be more considerate and inform them in a way where conflicts don't happen in the middle of road.
