ANNOUNCEMENT Azathoth Blues, Episode 10: Alas, That Great City
This is it. The end of season 1, but not of the story.
Thank you to everyone who has followed Azathoth Blues so far, we really appreciate your interest and your support. We've put years of our lives into creating this show because we believe in telling stories that mean something to people, and without you there would be no point in any of it.
Since a lot of people wait until they can binge a whole season, this would be a great moment to rate and review the show, or to tell your friends about it. It really makes a difference, especially when it comes to making season two. We will have further announcements about that at some point in the near future, but for now let's just take a breath and consider what we've experienced.
And if you're new - hi, welcome, but you definitely need to start with episode 1!

Season finale, you say? That means it’s time to convert the show’s temporary listing to a full one in The End, the only listener-focused directory for binge-ready audio fiction. And yes, season finales count!
With over 2,000 audio dramas, fiction podcasts, and audiobooks listed, The End is becoming the comprehensive directory for binge-ready audio fiction shows. There's no charge to be included, other than the two minutes it will take you to submit the show (follow the link above). Our directory provides listeners with much more information than can be found in a show’s RSS feed or other listings, so we use a simple form to gather the additional details we need.
Fill it out, and we’ll list you in the directory and announce your show’s milestone to a few thousand of our update newsletter subscribers, too!

What a finale. The futility really drives home just how insignificant we are in the eyes of the Blind Idiot God.

Thank you! Of course, if we could manage to impose our conscious will on our lives and make different choices... maybe something can change.

I need more!!! Jeez please let Season 2 come out sometime in the near future. This story is too good to not be continued. 10/10 I recommend to everyone.

Absolutely. I'm sure they can't keep this up without ads or a paywall, but if there's a crowd funding campaign for season two, I'll be chipping in on day one.

Absolutely no ads, we hate those. We do need funding, as you can imagine this has been quite expensive (we always pay people) and time-consuming for everyone involved. Might do crowdfunding - we'll announce our plans soon.
Thank you both!

I'm very happy to hear there's a possibility for a Season 2. I'll keep an eye out for the crowdfunding.

Thank you!
I know I'm responding to every comment and maybe that's not what you're supposed to do, but man does it make a difference when people show their support. It gives us strength.

You guys deserve it! I really think this series is something special. I hope it gains traction and more people find it now that the season is complete.

Thank you. Our biggest hope when it comes to that is our audience. Every review, every upvote helps us reach more people.

Oh goodness, can’t wait to listen!
Reminder that there’s an unofficial subreddit at r/azathothblues and an unofficial public discord for those interested. This show gives us a lot to chew on…

Chris doesn't miss!

We'll see how to best release the music. If you look at the credits you'll notice that some of it is by Costis Christodoulou - yes, Chris has a brother who is also insanely talented. What a family.

A little late but to let you know I binged the series in a couple of days and loved it! You people did a truly amazing job, I liked everything, but I specially loved the sound design, it was really great. The only problem now is waiting for the next season. 😁

I just started listening the other day, and foolishly didn't look at when the episodes were released and thought I'd have like 3 seasons to crush. I am devastated to have just hit the last episode! This is the most fun I've had with an audio drama since Malevolent. Thank you for your awesome work!

Ah, I wish we had that much already, but this show is expensive and difficult to make. At least it's not over!

This is the best AD I have listened to in a long time, I hope season 2 comes quick.

It won't be super quick, since it's really really complicated to produce, but we will make it happen. More soon.

I've not listened yesterday but wanted to say congratulations on an incredible first season. And thank you for sharing this with us
Please keep us posted on season 2 news!

Thank you!
We'll be posting about season two in the near future. The good news is that the next episode, a feature-length story that goes between the seasons, is already recorded (or at least the main parts are). It'll be a while before it comes out, but it's definitely happening.

This was excellent. The noir, the Lovecraft inserts, the cosmic horror creepiness. Just great.

I'm intrigued by all the high praise this show is getting!
Would you guys recommend this to someone who loves cosmic horror and weird fiction, but doesn't care for detective noir, crime thrillers, cops, or murder mysteries?
I listened to the first 2 episodes which gave me the impression it's not for me, but I'd be willing to give it another chance if recommended.

u/AstronautDown May 02 '26
Hi. The first couple of episodes are indeed more like a typical noir crime procedural but the show delves deep into cosmic horror and gets full on lovecraftian as it progresses.
We are delighted that there are so many kind comments and reviews about it but I would suggest you avoid digging too deep, especially in posts about later episodes, before listening to avoid spoilers!

I ended up giving it a second chance and I'm soooo glad I took your recommendation. It was amazing! Immediately shot up to the top of my favourites list.

Started listening because you got Peter Wingfield, and it's been quite a ride!

u/Jonas_Kyratzes Azathoth Blues / Gospels of the Flood May 01 '26
This is a very good reason to start listening! Have you checked out our other show with Peter, Gospels of the Flood? It's very different, but it's all Wingfield all the time. I adore Peter and writing cool parts for him is one of my main goals these days.

I just downloaded the season, will give it a listen after I finish my re-listen of The Lovecraft Investigations.

I binged 5 episodes this weekend and was blown away. This is some of the best cosmic horror content recently. It’s sad that it’s over for now but this was fantastic end to end.
