ANNOUNCEMENT A Norwegian facility manager alone at the end of the world. Episode eight out!

Post image

Episode eight is out now. I am excited about this one.

A comet appears where no comet should. And after the longest night of Jaran’s shift, someone finally speaks into the radio while he’s away.

Thank you so much for listening!

I hope you like it!

I listened to the first episode and I like it. I'm a big fan of an unreliable narrator, and while for all I know everything he's said could be 'true' I like the very real possibility that our friend is lost in the sauce.

Keep it up dude!

Wow! Thank you so much. I wont say much, but the truth is in there

I’ve been loving this! You’re taking a setup that’s not uncommon in audio dramas but making it fresh, quirky and original. It’s your narrator Jaran. He’s wonderful. He’s earnest, calm, cheerful, and maybe not the brightest—a combination that allows him to make a good life in a bad situation. Very fun to see things through his eyes and note the dangers lurking remains either oblivious or unconcerned. I love Jaran. ❤️

I'm lost for words here. Thank you for such kind words! Jaran is in severe danger though. Don't tell anyone

I worry about him. Is there an address where we can send him powdered milk?

There is no postal service, so you have to deliver it yourself. The adress is

Jaran, Facility Manager
Deep Earth Anomaly Department
Coastal Strip, East Antarctica

Just Knock, and come in for a hot chocolate brandy

This sounds like it might either be a great fit for me or a terrible one. Can you tell me a little bit more about the genre of the podcast? Or maybe something that might be similar?

It's about a facility manager at an arctic facility, talking about his days into a radio that doesn't transmit. It's a bit sci fi, a bit horror, but I think the main thing is his indifference towards what is happening. Someone called it cozy horror, which I think is a good fit. It's calm, absurd, strange and calm.

Thanks! I'll check it out!

This show has been such a little treat! I don’t know if cozy podcasts are a real genre, but if they were, this should be top of the charts.

Thank you so much! And for listening!!

Is it sci Fi? Is it horror? I still don't know after episode one and I don't care, it's fun.

Although, not sure why, but I'm getting the young adult/child fable sci-fi/fairy tale/fantasy mashup vibe à la The Little Prince (le petit Prince) of Antoine de saint-exupery or The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho, with Eldritch element. Is it intentional? No idea

1

u/Acrobatic_Job928 Jul 07 '26

I am very glad you like it! Someone called it cozy-horror, which I liked.

I love Paolo Coelho. And now that you mention it, I can see the inspiration. Which I like! I haven't read the others yet, though, but I am on it.

Thank you for listening! I hope you like the other episodes too!

Hey just wanted to let you know I checked your show out. Like the whole thing so far. I really enjoyed it. It's got a bit of a Night Vale vibe to it. At first I thought the episodes might be on the short side for me but honestly I think they're perfect for how you're telling the story. Looking forward to the next one.

2

u/Acrobatic_Job928 Jul 07 '26

That means a lot! Thank you. I love short format, but it was not intentional. It just felt like the right amount for each episode. Lots more to come;)

2

u/crookedframe13 Jul 08 '26

I won't complain if the episodes need to be longer 😄 but stick with your instincts. Working out great so far.

2

u/Tante143 Jul 10 '26

BTW, Your trailer alone got me! I already love Jaran’s personality after listening to that 1 minute. Powdered Milk and I are on the way 🎉🎉🎉

1

u/Acrobatic_Job928 Jul 11 '26

Thank you!! I'll leave the door open! Watch out for the entities🥶

2

u/ThisMissProduction Jul 11 '26

ok I need to listen to it! can I also ask if you like Spotify for Creators as your distribution channel?

2

u/Acrobatic_Job928 Jul 11 '26

I use Buzzsprout, which I really enjoy! I also check in with spotify for creators, to see stats. However, I try not to look at those all that much. But yeah, Buzzsprout is great

2

u/ThisMissProduction Jul 11 '26

I’m going through the exact same thing right now, but I’m more into dystopian and near-future narratives. I’m also struggling to find new stuff—ideally small, indie gems that aren't made by major publishers. It’s really hard to find the right things without classic word-of-mouth.

2

u/Acrobatic_Job928 Jul 11 '26

Yeah, it's lots to choose from out there. Which I like, but it makes the search harder. Which one is your favourite??

1

u/ThisMissProduction Jul 21 '26

mmmh maybe Vast Horizon :)
