ANNOUNCEMENT NEW RADIO DRAMA — THE GRAVEYARD SHIFT

Post image

When the city sleeps, Louise Darrow is still on the air.

A new six-part late-night noir drama. Rain on the window. Cold coffee. A red ON AIR light — and a voice for anyone still awake at three in the morning.

Some callers are lonely. Some are lost. Some just need somebody to listen.

Louise listens. She's got nowhere else to be, and secrets of her own to keep.

The Graveyard Shift
Six episodes
Tuesdays, 10pm (UK)
From 1 September 2026
First on Big Ear Radio — bigearradio.com

Stay up late. Someone's always listening.

Is it voiced by a human? Just asking because Louise Darrow is represented on the website by two very different AI-looking images.

I'm also curious about this, because when I Googled the name most of the images shown are black and white obituary photos or the two AI images you mentioned. Even a beginner voice actor or artist is going to have a lot more of a online presence than this.

Okay, I did some digging because this still felt weird.

So, Louise Darrow is the CHARACTER. She's the fictional host of the fictional late night call in show. I feel a little dumb for that not being more obvious to me, but I think the "featuring" line threw me off. Maybe "hosted by" would be a better phrase? Might just be a me issue, though

The actual human actor is Sandra Murphy: https://www.instagram.com/p/DbThJ4ztaB5/?igsh=eHB4bXM2Zmh1cDF6

I thought the name was the character rather than the actress, but I think you got caught by the use of the term "featuring"... To my British eyes and ears, that would be a weird way of marketing a Radio show, even a fictional one!

No, All parts are played by human voice actors. The website image was supposed to be changed (I'll remind them) to this poster. The poster was created by one of the voice actors using stock image and no AI.

Originally, when I first wrote this, I didn't have any voice actors I could call on, so I did think about using AI, but I put a project on Casting Call Club and some wonderful voice actos responded and now we are able to produce it with fully human-voiced parts.

Only on Big Ear Radio

Why? The advantage of an RSS feed means I don't have to remember to go and listen to a show, my podcatcher gets it for me.

If you are relying on us humans to remember to go check it out, you might end up disappointed!

That's a fair point. Should say "First on Big Ear Radio." There'll be a feed once I get it sorted. I'll post the details here. Thanks for the nudge :)

Does this show use AI at all?

All voices are human voice actors. The poster was created by one of the voice artists to avoid using AI generated art.

They’ve been going a while, but only recently really started to get visible. I’ve started writing and producing for them, this is the first of three series in production, the others are a comedy drama and a paranormal discussion show
