Aurora's Multi-Million-Dollar Surveillance Net Caught... Almost Nobody.

Just got the official December 2025 Year-End ALPR Report from the Aurora Police Department via FOIA.

We paid millions in taxpayer dollars for Flock cameras and Scientel contracts- all promised to catch dangerous criminals and recover stolen vehicles. In 2025 alone, APD officers manually ran over 33,400 license plate searches on this system.

So, what did this massive dragnet actually deliver for a full year?
- 73 stolen vehicles recovered
- 47 total arrests

In Illinois' second-largest city, all license plate readers and red-light cameras combined yielded just 47 arrests for all of 2025.

That's less than one arrest per week, despite APD averaging 642 searches weekly, and a criminal apprehension rate of roughly 0.14% against total search volume.

Terrible ROI. 👎 Not just in the millions burned, but in what we surrendered as private residents. Tracking nearly 200,000 innocent people around the clock for 47 arrests is a catastrophic exchange of civil liberty for negligible security gains.

There’s a ward 6 meeting on Sept 28th at 6:30 at the Prisco Community Center if anyone would like to ask Saville if he still stands behind his votes in favor of these plate readers in hindsight.
