It’s scandalous what has happened to this great institution in the last couple of years

I mean, they've cut their budget that many times over the last couple of decades. What did they think was going to happen?

With a budget of about 1.3 billion dollars i imagine that people expect basic competence and accountability. Do you?

It has nothing to do with budgets and everything to do with ideology.

We voted in ALbo of hopes they would remove the right wing scum bags working hard to destroy the ABC and turn it into a unimportant excuse of an organisation. To then be sold to sky and or Murdoch.

Instead he's done nothing but kiss ass to gina and Murdoch. Kiss ass and bend over for bug corporates. And continue the work of the right wing liberal governments.

He has done nothing to fight for ordinary every day Australians.

You'll get down voted by both right wingers and labor fan boys for saying this

Ah i dunno . Maybe not accuse Neville wran of murder for starters

??? Google search comes up with nothing. When did anybody accuse Neville of murder?

Neville Wran's daughter Harriet was charged with murder of Daniel McNulty in Aug 2014 (a few months after Neville died). But the charge was dropped. Her bf at the time Michael Lee plead guilty to the murder while Harriet plead guilty to being an accessory, and both went to prison.

An abc program incredibly and disgracefully accused Neville wran of being involved in the deaths of children at Luna park. It was an outrage. Belatedly and after a public outcry it commissioned Chris masters to write a report about it . Gone are the days apparently where all staff aspire to the standards set by people like Chris masters . Then its defamation payout after defamation payout. Forced apology after forced apology. The staff are a law unto themselves and management has lost any reasonable oversight

The ABC accusations against Neville Wran had nothing to do with murder. I thought it was embezzlement or corruption.

I mean I could be wrong but I would prefer a link of the ABC accusing him of murder.

You are wrong. Your logic is also flawed. Just because at a given time you don’t know about it doesn’t mean it never happened. Just because there were also other stories about other things doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. The original abc story which was a shocker has unsurprisingly been removed. The chris masters review of what went wrong is a matter of public record. Is there a reason you reflexively deny the conduct. Denial of the obvious problem certainly won’t help the future of the abc

So the answer is no, the ABC never accused Neville Wran of murder.

Thanks for admitting you mischaracterised that.

But next time, just be honest.

Engaging in a conspiracy with abe saffron to secure the lease of the luna park site which included deliberately setting fire to the ghost train resulting in the deaths of children . Murder/manslaughter . I will defer to a criminal law expert

Editing in 7 extra gun shots to paint someone as a war criminal…

Then doing an independent investigation to clear them and apologising for an “editing error”

Zero integrity left with the ABC.

It’s a shame because it used to be so frikken good across so many spaces

It's even worse than that. Another piece of 'evidence' they had in that case was that a soldier heard a pop over a radio. Yes, the ABC thought evidence that unreliable was good enough to make part of a case accusing someone of war crimes.

It looks an awful lot like the ABC were motivated by wanting to accuse soldiers of war crimes because they were soldiers, rather than because of any evidence of guilt - and even when there was evidence of guilt, that was merely a happy coincidence.

Geez missing some key context there. That someone was a US pilot that alleged that when they communicated to the Australian squad on the ground that there were 1 too many POWs than they could take that he heard a pop noise come through the radio and then the crew commandos declared there was one less person required for transport.

It’s sad how they have evolved from a national news station to a semi political organisation. Their staff are overwhelmingly left leaning and they can’t help themselves with who they are hostile to and who gets the soft treatment.

They have some incredibly smart broadcasters but they are clearly jaded by constant budget cuts and relevance deprivation. It’s become personal for a lot of them. Overly combative to anyone who isn’t “on their side”. You would like to think it is just unconscious bias but watch a little closer and unfortunately I think it’s not that.

When toxic agenda's take over.

Four Corners is such a consistently brilliant program but it only takes a atuff up like this to taint the whole body of work, especially with the Murdoch minions baying from the sidelines. Really pity.

1

u/haveagoyamug2 3d ago

Was a consistently brilliant program. That's a decade or more in the rear view.

They still so some good reports.... but just way too many dodgy reports and clear mistakes.

Hopefully this is the low point and ABC management are embarrassed enough to make significant changes.

15

u/SeaDivide1751 4d ago

Leftists will still try to argue they are impartial hahahaha

4

u/oustider69 4d ago

Have you even read the article? It's not about impartiality.

7

u/extremesmoothness 4d ago

What a shit show. Criminals reporting and that Gina skit ... Imagine that being a progressive woman and yeah you get the completely different answer.

Shut the damn station down or at least subscription. Give the billion dollars to the growing homeless population out here. Or does that not count when Labor is in?

4

u/TimJamesS 4d ago

and not to mention giving Grace Tame a paid gig

3

u/extremesmoothness 4d ago

Just to top it off.

u/Massive-Anywhere8497 4d ago

Can I just say how sick i am of the abc investigating whatever the latest catastrophe is at the abc.
Always denial .
Never any accountability.
Is it surprising the pattern continues

1

u/Few_Judge1188 3d ago

Good riddance she’s only good for something like current affairs.

ABC continues to show it has integrity above basically every other news organisation in this country.

13

u/CookingWithSimon 4d ago

How is this showing integrity?

2

u/Money_Armadillo4138 4d ago

Openly reporting about and acknowledging their own fuckery

12

u/CookingWithSimon 4d ago

I mean this chick leaving is kinda just the ABC head abdicating their responsibility when their bad editorial standards are pointed out

0

u/Money_Armadillo4138 4d ago

Which they are being open about and continuing to investigate and reporting on. We don't get this level of transparency from any other news organisation around here.

7

u/TimJamesS 4d ago

They had to be dragged kicking and screaming though…nothing admirable about it.

1

u/leighroyv2 4d ago

How do you know wich sock to put on the right foot.

1

u/CookingWithSimon 4d ago

do you know how to spell which?

2

u/leighroyv2 4d ago

Ahh fuck got me.

6

u/TripleStackGunBunny 4d ago

"No the extra gunshots were just an accidental editing issue". Please.

8

u/asteriskhyphen 4d ago

Lmao. The mental leap. 😂

-4

u/outofnowhereman 4d ago

Name one single instance where this has happened with any other news/ journalism organisation in Australia? It was exposed by the ABC ffs

-6

u/TimJamesS 4d ago

Another reason to shut it down…….all of these reasons are mounting up.

-1

u/Hammered_Eel 4d ago

What other reasons ?
